Is200 Front & Rear Seat Refurbishment

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I've recently bought an IS200 2003/52 (champagne/silver? cream 1/2 leather interior) and it needs a bit of attention to the seats, the fabric is worn and the leather is marked in places. If it can't be rectified from a deep clean and valet what are my options as to restoring and refurbishment as the rest of the car is in good condition and I just want to return it to the condition it deserves to be in.

I apologise if this questions been asked before

Thanks

hiya, well see how the deep clean and valet goes(if not too expensive),alternatively u should be able to pick up a complete interior(cream or black)depending on condition for about £200.Hope this helps.

Where do i look? Is it a case of looking on eBay and the scrapyards & breakers?

If it can't be rectified, the only other thing is to replace.

E-bay and Scrapyards are probably your best bet.

Welcome to LOC mate.

Thanks

I'll have a look as you said just in case the cleaning and valet don't sort it out - cheers

Leather can be brought back to life with a good feed but if the escaine sections are worn I don't think there's much that can be done. Try giving them a good brushing with a stiff suede brush as it might bring them up a bit.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Unfortunately my worst fears have just been confirmed, it's been clocked and has over 150,000 miles on it, well thats what it had on it in early 2009. My neighbour did the check for me and made a good point that he thinks it's been used as a taxi which would explain the excessive wear on the seats - getting in and out all the time?

I'm still going to restore it as best I can as I wanted a lexus and even though I've got one with high mileage it's still a great car and as long as I make sure there's nothing wrong with it mechanically then I can crack on with the cosmetic stuff without a problem.

i dont know if it is to o far for you to rent a van and come and get an interior from but i know for sure where there are a couple of complete is200s being broken for spares if you want a whole interior - let me know if brighton isnt too far foor you and i will give you the details if it helps - btw 150,000 miles is not end of days for a lexus but i would definately change the cambelt etc before you spend too much other money on it as if its been clocked you will have no accurate way of knowing when it was last done

I thought it was quite difficult to clock an IS200 - and generally it just freezes the odometer......unless someone has swapped the cluster?

Sorry to hear that, where did you get it from? Any chance you could take it back if it was a dealer?
