Ls400 Mkiii Obdii

Hi all. Im looking to buy a scanguage to monitor MPG etc, but it is only OBDII compliant. I am on the understanding that all cars after 1996 used OBDII. I cant find the OBDII port on my LS400 mkIII. Ive searched for ages looking in the car and also on this forum and google looking for info and folk say the 95+ LS400 should be OBDII

Hi,

Have a look under the dash around the bonnet release catch area, it has to be accessible from the drivers seat location and yes it is OBDII compliant.

Had a look there and all I can see is a circular port, the type that has connections in that you bridge with a paperclip. My car is 100% a mkIII 1996. is it hard to locate as I cant see anything that resembles OBDII

Sorry I could be wrong here,like you I assumed 96> were OBDII but if you have the round plug it may not be, have a look in the engine bay on top of the right bank of the engine( looking from the front) and see if there is an oblong diagnostic port connector there,if so it may be the paperclip system.

Could a series 3 owner confirm this please.

yes there is an oblong diag port that is located underneath the plastic engine cover :(

i have a rectangular diagnostics port under where engine cover was not sure if thats the car or my LPG system though.

any other ideas on this? do some LS400's have both the round diag port under the dash and a obdII port somewhere (hidden possibly as I cant bloody find it), or is it definatly one or the other?

Very dissapointed :(
