Hi. Yes, its another noob. Been lurking for a while as I narrowed down my choice of next car to a Lexus, helped a little by some of what I'd read on here.

Finally took ownership of a black 2005 IS200 SE navigator yesterday. Very high mileage for its age, (100k) but that was the compromise I had to make to get one that new in my budget. Usual issues obviously, evidence of a few small stone chips on the bonnet and grill, and theres clearly been a little scrape on the rear bumper but nothing serious.

Sadly there is a small dent on the bonnet that I'd like to get repaired, but that can wait until the next payday.

I'm a little underwhelmed by the sat nav, and not sure how to go abt updating it, if I even can, or even if its worthwhile and I'd be better off putting in a standard off the shelf system that has touchscreen control, camera details and postcodes.

However, it drives like a dream, very very happy with my new toy so far - even the wife is in love with it.

I'm also new and have come to the same conclusion - It doesn't even list my street which has been around for 20 years! But I'm told that it is easy to upgrade by purchasing a new disk from Lexus. I think the current one is 2009-10 and I have no idea if it does postcodes (a bit useless if not). I wonder when the 2010-11 version will be out?

Still enjoy the ride for now.

04AAA, the update disc if anything like Toyota "supposedly" come out every November, though usually we have to wait a few weeks after the due date
