Head Units - Any Easy Way To Test?

this might be the wrong forum so apologies, but I just wanted to ask the question. Basically, I purchased an Altezza recently and in the boot was a head unit. The bloke removed this from another car when he imported it but thats all I know, well apart from that he forgot to take it when I picked the car up!

Its an OEM toyota head unit, model code KNN-5175 or 76001. It has NAV/ TV/ CD etc and seems a really good piece of kit, but it does have some Japanese on it so it could turn out its not suitable for UK. I also can find barely any info via google which is never a good sign.

Anyway, I want to test this unit but wouldn't have a clue how to go about this. I don't fancy removing my head unit from the Altezza unless absolutely necessary (plus the wiring could be completely different), so wondered if there is a straight forward way (eg hook straight up to Battery?). Thing is, with so many pins on the back god knows what goes where!

I know its a long shot but you never know!
