Is220D Smoking

I have read numerous threads but none with the conclusion or the fix.

my friend has a 220d and it has the intermittent smoke problem he tells me. It can run fine one day and the next he will get puffs of smoke from the exhaust. he has had it checked out, nothing showing on computer had a full service carried out and even had the EGR valve cleaned out but no luck.

Did someone who experienced it ever get it fixed without having a new engine or a full engine rebuild done.

I only guess - it may be the 5th injector. I guess because it happens only on occasions - exactly as 5th injector cleaning.

thanks for the response so do you think its worth getting the fifth injector cleaned or chnaged.

I'd start with the toyota additive for DCAT engines. It should clean injectors.
