Coolant Leakage

Hi there! I have a small problem on my IS200 Y Reg. Every 500 miles I have to top-up about 500ml of engine coolant. I get no strange smoke, no oil to water mixture,so the head gasket is ok but I have seen that when the car isn't running for couple of days there is some coolant leaking from the top of the water pump where is a short L-pipe connected to the engine block on one end and to the pump on the other . I've put some metal like glue but with no luck.

Can someone help me out with some ideas.

Exactly the same thing happened to me.

That small length of metal pipe which can only be three inches long has an "O" ring on either end and when they perish they let a small dribble of coolant out which gets more and more when revving the car.

I just whipped off the little connector dooberry thingy above it which is held on by a couple of bolts and let the coolant flood out. Whipped out the pipe with some Mole-Grips and off to B&Q I went to get some "O" rings. ( it was late on a sunday, b&q was the only option). I threw everything back together and refilled the cooland and its been happy dayz ever since, that was about six months ago and touch wood theres no issues.

Hope this helps.

Thank you gazza0210 for the replay. Can you tell me what kind of "O" ring did you use(the material from witch is made)and how many are necessary.

I've seen on the IS300 workshop manual that 3 are needed.

Did you use some gasket glue for the "O" rings?

Regards.
