I use my Lexus mostly for long journeys, and I keep the trip computer set to show 'average MPG' as this stops me from putting my right foot down too much. (Also, 'current MPG' seems to fluctuate wildly, and I can never work out exactly what it shows.) Anyway, on my last trip I decided to waft home at between 50 and 60 mph on dual carriageway and motorway just to see what I could get the MPG up to; and apart from the fact that the journey didn't take me much longer than normal, I got 32.6 mpg. What's your best figure?

On a recent trip to Gatwick airport and back to collect the inlaws, I averaged 35.2mpg. I reset the computer as I left to see what I'd get on a run. I set the cruise to 70mph on the motorway.

I thought that was brilliant out of a 4.0 V8.

Running around town to work and back, I get nearer 18-20mpg.

I agree - that's brilliant for such a big car.

Well done about the MOT by the way. I've not had many MOT bills for less than £200, ever, but then I've never had a Lexus before! Anyway, it's still cheap motoring.
