Is300 Stutter On Take Offs, Steerage Drift, Lightbulb Indicator ?

Recommended Posts

New member here, Hi to all.

I have a 2002 is300 that has a few issues I need help with.

1) the car stutters and sometimes stalls at take offs. I have ran a few bottle of chevoron EFI cleaner through her...it seemed to help, but then after a tank of gas the issue is back. I also just put in a new airfilter. Anyideas where to look next? Fuel econ seems to be lower now too.

2)I am noticing a random "clunk" sound when I back up and turn wheel. I think this is also related to the high speed drifting I have began to notice. It doesn't seem to like to drive in a straight line anymore.

3) I can't get my little "light bulb" indicator on the dash to turn off, but all bulbs, turn signals etc are working fine. How do I reset this indicator?

4) the drivers side door doesn't always lock when remote is actuated.

I'm sure there are several others who have had similiar problems, so any insight is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I am having the same issue, just keeping it in a straight line is quite a task!

My guess is the front lower ball joints, they're not expensive (£50 a set from eBay) and not that hard to fit.

I am taking a chance and replacing mine. I'll update after they're fitted on if it solved the 'clunk' and steering drift issue. Worth doing the wheel alignment and geometry as well, folks on here suggest going to Wheels in Motion for that, it seems they're the only ones able to get it right.

your car stuuering and stalling could be a lot of things. Could be a misfiring engine. Id start by checking your spark plugs then your coils. I had same problem and it would also do it when the engine was warm. say if i went out to shop, parked outside then drove it back home. checked plugs and one was much darker than the others. Replaced it and seemed ok. But the stuttering came back. changed coils and reset ecu. now runs perfect. try resetting ecu first. then look at plugs if keeps stuttering. hope this helps
