Cam Belt / Timing Belt

Hey guys and girls.

Does anyone have any advice on where to take my IS200 for its Cam / Timing Belt change as its just passed 100k and have had the service by Lexus Bristol but they quoted £450 for the timing belt - is this normal costing or does anyone know cheaper but same time quality place to get this done in the Wiltshire / Somerset area????

hi,sounds about right,would have it done asap as it is 60000mls or 6 years which ever comes first as far as i am aware(except its been done before????)

I have only owned the car for 7months and was on 96000K and the gent i bought it from said that he would change it @ 100k but would have to pay him labour etc as well and i didnt really trust that option...

From what i have seen its not been done in the service history or receipts for purchased parts but again its if someone has kept receipt etc.

Lexus have just quoted again but this time £259.93 - it seems to change depending who you talk 2! He said it was cheaper due to the age of my car... does the year of the car mean the engine layout is different??

they do a price plan for older cars for some things, it'll also vary between different Lexus Branches as they are franchised, so if you are near more than one shop around, altho £259.93 sounds good, is that for the belts to be done and a full service?

Hi at that price i would think its only the cambelt as it seems too chaep to include a full service too,would also have water pump changed as new belt and tensioners would put added strain on an old water pump.Changed my water pump and cambelt in one go.hope this helps?

that is just for the belts to be done.

The service was done about 10days ago and was £303 all in with a coolant leak fixed as well (£92 just for that!!)
