225/45/17 is usually for the rear wheels of an is300

215/45/17 is the correct size for a is200 se

I have 225's on the rear of my 200se and 215's on the front

225 is a wider tyre, you won't have a prob on the rear but dont know about having them on the front.

I would imagine less responsive steering....

and depending how low your car is at the front, they may rub...

Hi Jason.

Been toying with the idea of running 225's on the rear myself. They are cheaper than 215's but I'm old skool and always used to run wider rubber on my old rear wheel drives.

As far as runnin 40's instead of 45's?

I wouldn't!!!

What you are in effect doing is altering your rolling diameter of the wheel/tyre. Using 40's will make your rolling diameter smaller which will alter the gearing of the car. (Slightly quicker response, shorter gear changes)but will also have a detrimental affect on your speedo accuracy as the wheels will be turning faster but car will travelling slower.

I think I have that the correct way around?

Physics was never my forte. lol

hello

thanks for all your help.

So i could finally decide I asked lexus themselves. firstly at the Birmingham dealer, where the mechanic chap replied there would be no

problem with changing tyre size.

Then i emailed the Lexus website (UK) and they replied telling me thay they would not advise me to change tyre size!

anway, i am not going to change sizes.. just look for cheaper 215 / 45 / 17.

thanks all
