  1. Still not got this issue resolved. As you can tell by the time difference from original post. I have been busy doing less complicated things. Like circum navigating the globe with a piece of papper a pencil and a pushbike, working out the tragectories, fuel payloads and thrust I need to buuild my own rocket and place my own satelite in geo-stationary orbit before Elon fills all the space. Much simpler than getting this USB recognised Anyway, I tried several USBs all formatted in FAT32 and none of them registered. Regarding my VIN not recognised, I'm guessing it's because the UK is no longer in the EU. Hence toyota.eu will no longer have UK data.
  2. I have been battling for over a day now, to find how to update my Premium Nav in a 2013 F-Sport IS300H and the Lexus Tech Website is telling me that my VIN is invalid. (Copied straight from My Lexus Portal and double checked from a photo on my phone) I know it is correct, it works on VIN verification sites. Am I missing something obvious here? Was given a download from the portal to download but no matter how I wrap it up, unwrap it, folder it, don't folder it, IT STILL ISN'T RECOGNISED!! Never had so much trouble updating anything in my life. I set up and run my own websites and webserver, surely I can update a frikkin media system. Can't I?
  3. And this is why I love this Forum. Thank you very much for that, massive help.
  4. Wow, didn't think that I would be back in the 220d forum again but here I am. Guys or Girls I need some information regarding the handbrake on the is220D My wifes car failed the MOT on the handbrake and I need to fit new discs, pads and shoes. What I want to know is: Is there a fitting kit available for the 220D shoes because I don't want to strip this lot off, only to find I break a spring or pin and can't refit it again??!!?? I can't find one anywhere but I can select single parts, of which I don't even know the sizes of, so I can't buy them as they may be wrong. So lets broaden this a little. If there is no specific rear shoe fitting kit, what parts are required and of what quantity and sizes to get the whole lots (Just in case) for both sides? Thank you in advance
  5. I concur with Dublet here. I hoped for a Mark Levinson system when I originally was speccing up my IS (Had one in my old 220D and it sounded great) but I took a NONE ML system for a test drive and was suitably impressed. So I bought the whole car. 😄
  6. I spent an aweful long time working that out. I assumed the Premier was highest but as already pointed out and as I found out myself. 7. That's impressive. I never thought that I would be overly concerned about MPG figures, since I came from an IS220D which was dismal, at best. If I was lucky I got 27mpg around town and never improved on 37mpg on a long run. So, not thinking I would care, i am shocked that I do. I am always in ECO mode and I'm constantly watching the damn gauge and always try to improve on my last personal best. (42.9 combined) I find it annoying that I have become "That Person"! Anyway, as it has had an adverse effect on my driving, I now refuse to plug in my smart meter monitor, in fear I will turn off things in the house that shouldn't be turned off, like the fish tank! I used to like driving fast and pushing my traction boundaries, damn these gauges. lol
  8. Just checked for recalls. I have a 2013 and Lexus claims, no recalls required for my year.
  9. ***UPDATE*** I disabled the interior sensors for 3 whole days and nights, then allowed them to activate after that. So, far, no false alerts and waking of neighbours. Been over 2 weeks now. This leads me to two conclusions: 1. There was some critter, moving around in the vehicle and setting it off. It died or left the building. 2. Disabling the interior sensors removed a glitch in the sensor system. Unable to conclusively disprove either of those, so, as Toyah Wilcox would say.. It'th a mythtery! Apologies to those not akin to the reference or are offended by humour.
  10. I sourced a condensor from an online breaker and fit it myself. Cost around £90 Saying this, I must also warn you about doing this yourself. ****DOING SO, YOU MAY BE BREAKING THE LAW OR COULD CAUSE CONSIDERABLE INJURY TO YOURSELF AND/OR THE ENVIRONMENT*** My system, when I did mine, was completely drained down, safely, via a registered Air-Con specialist I purchased and fit the condensor myself but took it back to the Registered Air-Con Specialist to have it refilled and leak tested (£40) (Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, the deliberate release of refrigerant into the atmosphere is illegal. The use of R12 is now banned in the UK. Refrigerant R12 is a chlorinated fluorocarbon (CFC), an ozone-depleting chemical harmful to the environment which was phased out worldwide from 1994. A total ban on its use came into force in the UK on 1 January 2001. The ban extends to its use for the maintenance of existing equipment, so when a system containing R12 requires maintenance or repair, it will be necessary to carry out a conversion, for example to R134a. Otherwise, it is acceptable for R12 to remain in use in an air-conditioning system until the end of its service life. The only refrigerant currently approved by equipment and motor manufacturers for use in air-conditioning systems is R134a, although other replacement chemicals, some flammable, are becoming more common. What are the dangers? The main risks to health and safety associated with R12 or R134a occur if they are released into the atmosphere. The risks include: ● FROSTBITE - caused by skin or eye contact with the refrigerant liquid or gas; ● ASPHYXIATION - if the heavier-than-air gas escapes in sufficient quantities into a vehicle inspection pit or similar confined space where someone is working; ● HARMFUL GASES - resulting from thermal decomposition of the refrigerant in contact with a naked flame or exposure to high temperatures, for example the highly toxic gas phosgene from R12.)
  11. I'm still working on a solution. Checked the battery after vehicle has sat for several hours. Still reading ok @ 12.3 v Issue has primarily showing in the evenings, first off all at 11pm every other evening, then at 10pm every other evening. Only the over, up until last night, when it went off twice, whilst at work. tonight I will disable intrusion sensors and see what happens
  12. Thanks for that. The head unit failing does not sound like something I would want to happen, especially right now
  13. Rather than quote multiple posts I'll leave this here. I posted, previously on here for advice on which 300H I would be better off with (HERE). After fantastic results and information from multiple members, I made my choice. I have many hobbies and a lot of them are of an artistic nature, with this, unknowingly, until I started looking back, I noticed that a lot of my work involved stark contrasts, mainly black and white or strong colours. This has followed me, recently, into vehicle colours and interior choices. I have never been/ever will be, in a position to spec and purchase a brand new Lexus but when I buy second hand, I follow a well trodden path (Set by me, without me even realising) whichever colour I choose, dark or light, i go opposite on the interior colours. Light colours though, tend to have dark dashboards, steering wheels and centre consoles, with black seats and carpets, this would be too much dark, for my taste, so... I was looking for an Ivory interior. I found a Premier with such an M.O (You can read the story in the original post "Original Post" ) That purchase didn't work for me, so it was back to the drawing board. On return from the Premier, the hunt began again. The second white Is300h I saw, on my perusal, had the red interior. This was the first time I had seen red in an F-Sport and I admit, it was a shocker. (The pictures showed a much lighter red than it actually is (as Malc said "the red leather is beautiful ............ reminds me of the leather interior, exactly the same colour, of my 1969 Wolseley 16/60 about 50 years ago !" I too, was cast back to the past but the 70's for me, with the old vinyl seats) I made the mistake of showing the pics to the wife and she instantly fell in love with the car and colours. Being level headed and not prone to rapid and impulsive decisions (LOL) she told me to take it for a test drive. So, arrangements were made, I viewed the car and actually found myself really liking the wine/claret coloured seats. I took it for a test drive and was hooked. Parking in my works car park, amongst a sea of silver vehicles, instantly she was getting a lot of attention, many about how much they love the red interior and the white combo. Many others commenting on how modern and edgy the styling is for an 8 year old car. (This was a major factor in my model choices) I have stated that I have some small work to do to get things, just so but very, very little. There are very few marks on the exterior, light scratches under the door handles, a couple of light scratches on the rear near side door and a few stone chips but for an 8 year old, the bodywork and condition is outstanding and I am more than happy. What I can't get over though, is the attention that she is getting. I had the IS200 Sport, in blue and that got "some" attention but this is next level, I'm even getting BMW and Mercedes drivers double taking me. And I have to confess, it's something I'm not used to, which, at first, was making me nervous but i'm getting there. There doesn't appear to be many 300h's around where I live, as I have only seen one in the last 6 weeks, other than the two I looked at. Who knows, I might have inadvertantly started a Lexus advertisment campaign and may spark a 2nd hand Lexus, sales boom. If that's the case, I will be requiring some recompense 😉 Thank you all for taking time to comment and for all the advice, you wonderful people, freely offer. Continue the good work. I have been a member here, since before I even owned a Lexus, so I won't be going anywhere in the forseeable future. Thanks again for your great comments!!!
  14. I actually purchased the car from Lexus Kings Lynn but all the documentation and V5, does indeed state, that it is a Carlisle vehicle.
  15. I was asked by royoftherovers to post some pics of my recent addition. Having been at work all weekend, today has been my earliest moment to do so. I have some cleaning up and cable mangement for the dash-cam to sort out still but here are some pics as she sits atmtm
  16. All this info here, is why I became a member of LOC UK. I only purchased my car on Thursday 15th July 2021 (For those reading old posts) 2013 F-Sport with almost 36,000 miles on it First day my Alarm went off a 23:00, next day, nothing, day after 23:00 awaiting what happens this evening. Was thinking a cat may trigger it but as I have CCTV around my house, I have not actually seen one in the area at that time. A quick voltage check on the battery puts it in the green zone but that was after a run so I will check it again in the morning. I'll keep you in the loop if I find anything
  17. I like Lexus Leicester, not just because it's my nearest, it's because of the way they look after their clientele. But, like many other garages, franchised or not, they do tend to over-inflate parts prices, or in my case want to replace parts that don't necessarily require replacing. My example was sticking front brakes. I was aware of the issue and was on it's case but I had a service carried out by Lexus Leicester and being ultra efficient, they pointed the issue out with a couple of others, I was also aware of. The sticking calipers were actually rusted slide pins. Lexus wanted almost £1000 to replace the discs and calipers. The slide pins were £17 for a pair the discs £150 for a pair. They also noted I had a seeping rear shock. (This was picked up in my MOT, so I was also on the case) Lexus wanted nearly £1000 to replace both. I could have gone cheap and put after markets on but to maintain the originality of my car, I found the Toyota codes for them and found somewhere in Japan that would ship them out (UK unable to source them at the price I could get them delivered for) £300 delivered and £80 to have them fit. So, yes, I love Lexus and the extra mile they are willing to go for you but being a "Prestige" Marque, they assume that all Lexus owners have bottomless pockets and no clue on how a car works, let alone how to repair one. Luckily, Lexus are ultra reliable and seldom require work, other than wear and tear.
  18. In absolute agreement on that wharfhouse. It is a Toyota dealership but he claimed they have had many Lexus through their Dealership, and move them on with ease. Maybe I'm being a little naive here but if you have vehicles to sell, regardless of make or model, you should at least learn the basics of them, to assist in the selling, to me that is just common sense. Never mind. **** happens! To blow Lexus dealerships trumpets though. A few weeks ago, I enquired about a vehicle that Lexus of Reading had just taken in part exchange. Their website had very little information about it, so I emailed them. Not long after I sent the email, they rang me and answered all the questions they could, bearing in mind that it was still in the workshop having work carried out on it, prior to a full valet before going on the shop floor. They then told me that they would contact other Lexus dealers, enquiring about their used car stocks and if they had one that matched my criterior, they would let me know. Now that is what I call service! From the whole experience, I know that, despite being treated like a 2nd class citizen, people will still purchase from a garage because they.. A) Feel pressured into it B) Really like the car and are afraid they may not find another like it. Or C) Will take any amount of crap because it's too much aggro to look elsewhere. Don't even get me started on Car Supermarkets tactics for selling
  19. I will indeed be posting some pics when I take ownership of the fine looking beast. lol
  20. I am reluctant to name and shame, especially in this case, as my treatment at this particular dealership may be subjective, to me. I may have expected BETTER treatment but I actually recieved, "Acceptable" treatment. But, as I feel so strongly about it I will, on this occasion, name the dealership, only after I fill you in on "All" the details. Okay, so the story starts with myself, scanning through sources of my desired vehicle. I spotted the "Perfect" vehicle, the exact one I was hoping for. Right colour, right coloured interior, low mileage and reasonably priced. So, I rang the dealership and asked for a viewing (Covid Restrictions and all that) I informed him that I lived some distance from them and I would email them back when I had checked on a few things and let them know when/if I would be going. I emailed them that I would leave my house around 9am and should be with them between 12 and half past the following day. I recieved no reply. The following day I rang them again and asked if it is ok to see the vehicle. The curt answer was "We are expecting you today at 12-12:30" I of course replied that I had no confirmation of my viewing time, in any manner, hence, that was the purpose of my phone call. As he had just confirmed it was ok I told them I was on my way. I arrived in time some three hours later, walked into the showroom, the salesman was fetched for me. A couple of questions asked, then he lead me outside to where the vehicle was, he then unlocked it, told me to look around it and then proceeded to... well that's the problem. Nothing, blank, no information, no details. I had to prompt him for everything. I asked if part ex was available, he asked on what, I pointed to my tired old 220d and he sauntered off, with the new vehicle keys, so I couldn't do anything, other than look at things. It had been valetted so, what could i look for? Overall, the car was very clean and tidy but I was already in doubt whether I wanted to part with my, hard earned, to someone who really wasn't interested. He returned after going into the office with an offer on my car. It was really low, I was expecting low but not that low, low I'm using low a lot, that's low. Anyway i started discussing options and possible discounts, his reply was simple "No discounts, the car is priced to sell, I can sell them cars all week and they will go in no time" Fair comment, who was I to argue? So then he told me that I would have to put a deposit on it and could pick it up in a couple of weeks. I told him that the offer on my car, the distance I travelled and the distance I would have to travel, could we come to some arrangement on that? "No, the price is set" OK, i said. By now I had lost complete interest. There was some mumbling about deposits and payments on his behalf (He never asked if it was a cash or credit sale, so I didn't volunteer that info) Nor was there a mention of me being able to take it for a test drive. (Again, I wasn't going to volunteer my interest, as he had none) I told him that with all the travelling, logistics, fuel costs and lost time, I couldn't make it work for that price. He answered "OK, you just wasted your time then, didn't you?" I had heard enough, I asked if I could use the bathroom and left. Had they started on the correct footing, I may have actually bought the vehicle. You know, like knowing I had travelled 3 hours to see their car, a curtious "How was the journey, would you like a tea or coffee" might have been nice but no, I had none of that. Things spiralled from there. There are not many reviews for the dealership but they are all fairly positive. Maybe there are more people like me that have felt that things could have been better but didn't wish to bitch about it on their website?!? Anyway this particular Toyota dealership is in Blackpool and the one in question is Harry Feeney Toyota Disclaimer This was my own personal experience and feelings, this does not, in any way shape or form, represent the feelings, sentiments or points of views of others and their own experiences of the afore mentioned dealership. You are advised to make your own decisions regarding this matter by seeking further information and points of views, to gather sufficient evidence to make a valid choice Thank you
  21. **Update** Finally reeached a decision and expect to pick the new arrival to the household on Thursday 15 July 2021 I originally wished for the Premier and having found one with Ivory leather at a reasonable price, I was quite happy to drive for 3 hours to view it. However, having arrived at the Toyota, family owned and run dealership, I was not exactly made, super welcome and they were less than helpful, so, having been told by the salesman that I had wasted 3 hours travelling and it was my loss, I decided that my money would NOT be going to them, purely out of principal . (Cost me £30 in diesel, cost them a £14,000 sale) So, the hunt began again. This time I broadened the field to include F-Sports and I'm glad I did. Bagged a white 38,000 mile 2013, with Premium Nav, ML and Red Leather Heated and Vented Seats. (Thought the red would look a bit 1970's but it's actually quite stylish) and only 1.5 hours away at Kings Lynn Lexus. Where, as I have always found at Lexus dealerships, the staff were warm, welcoming and very, very helpful. I was permitted a test drive, (something I was never asked at the Toyota dealership. Bitter feelings from me? hell yeah!) and not having driven an automatic car on the road for, errrr...decades! I was expecting some lumpy, long winded changes with really slow pick up (Reading what people have been saying about the CVT gearbox) So, I was pleasantly surprised to find, it was MUCH better than I had anticipated. Pick up was quite quick, in sport mode, even quicker, gear changes were pretty smooth and un-eventful. So I was happy, struck up deal and that was that. The F-Sport was more expensive (The Premier was "Priced To Sell" but Lexus Kings Lynn was just a much better experience from start to finish, so I didn't mind the higher price) Thanks to all your help, guys n gals, because of your wise words, I believe I made a well educated, pre-planned decision and hopefuly, it will all work out perfectly because of that.
  22. I do like the look of the F-Sport, it has a more, edgy look. I am looking at F-Sport with lots of upgrades AND the Premier. Still, really like the White. Was looking at the red but now I see it has white undercoat, it's put me more onto the white. My current Lexus is Dark blue/black, My previous as you see from my Avatar, was also blue. So I really want to go lighter. Silver, no disrespect, each to their own and all that but...I can't do it. I had a silver Celica before my Lexus and it just looked dreary compared to the other colours. Also, where I work, the car park is awash of silver vehicles, I want something that stands out more. Thanks for all the advice guys n gals. My hunt continues and all I can say is, I will get exactly the one I want, eventually, maybe, possibly. LOL
  23. I never said there wasn't a way to mount the subwoofer. I said "there is no way in hell that you are going to get it to fit the original Mark Levinson Mount" as the mount, physically, goes over the speaker. You could utilise the mount but you would be cutting parts off it, just to get the original speaker removed from it. I also said "replace it with something completely different and mount them differently" which is what you are saying and I totally agree. I didn't just repair my speaker because I thought it would be the best option. I explored other options and decided that repair was the best option for "Myself", at that particular time. I did, look into replacing the speaker with another sub but having looked under the parcel shelf, from inside the boot, it would have meant cutting away metal and metal brackets. So I went the way I thought best, without comprimising the originality of my vehicle or parcel shelf strength.
  24. The trouble with finding a direct replacement is: The way the speaker actually mounts onto the parcel shelf. I think the ACTUAL speaker is not an exact size. It's a 5.5 or 6.5" and there is no way in hell that you are going to get it to fit the original Mark Levinson Mount. Getting a new Woofer from Lexus is around £500, so scrappies are the only direct replacement option. Or as Mr Vlad says, replace it with something completely different and mount them differently.
  25. Getting the subwoofer out, was a little tricky. It was quite some time ago but as far as I remember. 10mm bolts holding the lower part of the back seat. 2 or 3 of them, they need to be removed. I think you have to either push the lower seat back or pull it forwards, as it has hooks the hook into brackets. Don't forget to push the lap belt through. Then it's a case of man-handling the seat out of the car. It's not heavy, just large and you are in it's way. Remove the rear headrests. Push in the tab and pull the headrest out There are now, on the back part of the seat, metal brackets that are bolted to the boot partition. Remove those also. The seat belts are clipped in at the top of the seat back. They are pretty tough to unclip, just persevere You may need to remove the seat belt anchors, I think sometimes I did and sometimes I only required certain access. With the rear, back seat, removed. The parcel shelf is clipped in, in several places, that I can't recall, they are quite tough to dislodge, I didn't use any tools as I didn't want to damage the material. Don't forget the ones right under the rear window. Now you have access to your sub-woofer, it's the little raised number in the centre of the window
