Aftermarket Warranties

Just wondering whether there is a gap in the market or have I missed the fact that warranties are indeed offered for cars older than 10 years with over 100k miles on the clock, which quite often are as reliable as newer, fresher models?

Seems discriminatory to me if the powers that be wont have it...

Without researching this I can tell you that Warranty Direct covers cars to 12 yrs old if less than 120k miles. I am sure there must be others too.

Aftermarket warranties are not worth the paper they are printed on, they only cover a component after it has failed and broken, A Toyota/Lexus warranty will replace a part like a wheel bearing while it noisy, aftermarket will only cover it once its collapsed and caused damage to other components.

Where on earth did you get that from? How long have the "Lexus used approved" and the "Lexus extended warranty" covered items which have not failed? It would be handy if you could inform Lexus UK and their dealers.

My example of a wheel bearing is a part that has not failed but you would have advanced warning by the noise it was making, this same example would apply to a noisy diff, engine, gearbox etc.
