Hi I have a 96 Ls400 with what I think is a charging problem I have had a new Battery fitted about a month ago because the car failed to start

now the problem has returned it seems to have a flat Battery and the starter clicks and the warning lights apear on the dash it has the symtoms of a flat Battery but I still have headlights

What sort of tension should be on the front belt I have had a cam belt changed about 3 months ago and didnt have this problem before

Check all Battery and earth [or ground if you prefer] connections.

If good, try a different Battery, yours may have a bad cell.

If not, sounds like the classic starter contact problem.

Check connections on your Battery terminals. I had a problem with Battery discharge last March/April and when my local auto electrics place checked it they found nothing amiss. They did however advise me to loosen off my terminals and slip a small panel pin or similar into the gap and retighten it. I did as suggested and since then have had no problem.
