Auto Box Oil

Recommended Posts

Can anyone advise me with this

I have an auto box on a 2004 is200. There is nothing wrong with it so i would tend to leave it alone but is anyone aware if the oil does need to be changed after ?? miles. Its currently on 92k and i am not aware it has been changed. Would changing it make that much of a difference if there's no issues at the moment?

thanks

Not 100% with the IS200 but on the LS400 it is suggested the transmission fluid is replaced every 60,000 miles so it may be a good idea to do yours at its present mileage.

I am also assuming it is the same fluid as the LS so Toyota Type IV is the only one.

But check your handbook to confirm.

Hi as suggested i would have both the atf and the filter changed just to be on the safe side. I know with the IS 200 sport( manual), it is recommended that you change the gear box oil/fluid and the lsd oil every 60,000 miles.

I have a '99 SE auto, and the transmission oil should be changed every 27k miles.

I say changed, but in actual fact what you do is just empty the gearbox of its oil, about one and a half litres. You don't drain the torque converter as you used to do on older Lexus' (GS & LS).
