I Have To Push The Brake Pedal Really Deep Before The Brakes Start To

Hi guys,

There's something bothering me about my car. I've owned my IS200 since October last year, and I've always thought I have to push the brake pedal unreasonably far before the car actually starts to brake. During the last MOT inspection the brakes appeared to be functioning fine, and the breaking itself is actually quite good, but I think it's strange that I have to push the pedal so far.

Is this normal for an IS200? Breaking fluid is halfway between min and max, brake pads are almost new, but the discs are probably still the original ones (car has 100,000 miles) though they appear in good condition.

First registration date is April 2002, but it has the clear taillights so I think it's actually a 2001 car.

Is there something wrong with my car, or do all IS200's require a lot of "pedal travel" before the car actually starts to brake?

Many thanks in advance.

Agree with lance. Brakes need bleeding. I drove out a garage after having a caliper replaced but they had not been bled properly. tried to stop but just kept going! lol Bled the brakes and it was fine.
