My 2nd day owning a 2002 is200 and 1st time filling up with petrol, and after I popped the cap open with the lever by the drivers seat, the cap wouldn't open fully, and so the fuel pump was a tight squeeze to get in, and kept stopping every 50p as I was filling up (not sure if that was the pump or the car never experienced that with any other car) and when I close the cap it won't sit flush anyone know why or how to fix the petrol flap so it shuts and opens properly

could you post picture of the fuel cap?

it happen to me when i bought mine ( metal clip issue) but not sure what really your situation is
