Hello all,

I have bought a set of 2007/2008 DVDs part number 86271-0w070,86271-60w370b to update my 2001 gs430

The screen is saying "unable to read DVD". Site founder and guru Monster Mat has suggested that the heads on the DVD reader may need cleaning. Anyone know if that's as simple as doing on your home DVD player or do Lexus make it more tricky. Anyone updated their DVDs and get it to work?

Happy Christmas all

Thanks for your wisdom,

Allan

Hi Allan,

I had exactly the same problem with my old VW Golf sat nav all i did was use a simple CD lens cleaner that i got from maplin's for only £4.99 i would say that this would be your first point of call on this problem.

Here is the link to the one i got and it sorted out the problem straight away :)

hi,I think you may have bought the wrong disc(s)(although I stand to be told different),as i sure the 2001 sat navs used the CD Rom and not DVD, as I made a similar error when trying to update mine(as I bought the CD version instead of the DVD and had the message unable to read disc) for my 2003 car.Hope this helps.

I tried a DVD cleaner ( without success) so maybe it is a CD Rom based system as scudney says

the GS430 has a DVD based system. However there are multiple generations of DVD system so there is a good chance you have the wrong discs. I think it is a Gen 2 or a Gen 3 system.

Do any of the part numbers on the old disc roughly match the new one (the last digit normally increases with each map update).

Try the following site - it will determine the latest disc which matches your system.
