Remote Start Is200

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

Going back about 10 years my sisters ex used to fit remote start, remote windows and remote lights to IS200's. At the time I remember him saying his company which I can't recall the name of but was/is in Fleet, Hampshire was only 1 of 2 companies nation wide that would do this install.

Would anybody know if this is still the case or is it a common modification now? I would love remote start but if it's a specialist job I don't want to pay 1000's of pounds. Oh and I've completely lost touch with my sisters ex, they've been split up for about 6 years! Lol...

I remember my dad getting this installed on his car roughly 15ish years ago. It came as a complete keyless entry system with a receiver which was installed somewhere under the steering wheel. It was expensive back in the day but I really doubt it being expensive now. The start/stop button on the remote was under a flap so you did not press it by accident.

I remember that in those days the kit was sold for automatics only because they had not figured out a way to stop the car from starting if it was in gear on a manual transmission. With all the advancements in technology this must have changed now.

Sparkystav:

Both myself and Rabs old IS have this system.

We found it very hard/impossible to integrate with the standard system though.

Rabster:

thats correct, trying to integrate it to the EU version of the lexus IS200/300 alarm system is almost impossible (there could be a way but i think its down at component level)

To integrate with after-market systems is simple enough or to remove the factory and integrate that way is simple as well although will no longer be a cat1 alarm unit

the new system they make comes complete with remote start from the credit card fob which kinda defeats the objective IMHO.

Sparkystav:

It will work with the Lexus but it wouldn't arm the standard alarm just its own one built in.

Rabster:

as stav says it wont arm the standard alarm there is a way to do it i feel using the factory keyfob and a bypass module but as i dont have a lexus i cant fully test the theory i have but im 99.9% certain it can be made to work but there are some downsides to it which could make the car easy to steal.....

Hope this helps.
