A Few Questions From A Newbie!

Hiya gang.....again. Just a few days into my Lexus experience and just picking brains.

1. Whilst going to work last night traction control on my IS200 auto kicked in nicely but was making a bit if a racket from the rear. Is it supposed to be slightly noisey?

2. Steering was slightly 'notchy' from cold start up and is slightly notchy the rest of the time too. Levels seem ok fluid wise might be a few mm below minimum level.

Any ideas on the above ! ?

Thank you in advance ! ;-)

Hi.

Well my traction control makes absolutely no noise when it kicks in, not that I've noticed anyway. I've never had strange sounds from the rear.

As for the lumpy steering I experience this in the cold as do a lot of members if u do a quick search. I got mine checked at Lexus, they say pump is fine, fluid good and belt correct tension. So I'm just putting mine down to not liking the cold! :whistling:

As your fluid is below minimum I suggest you top it up. Dexron ii or iii is needed. Dex ii is blue and dex iii is red so just match the colour that's already in yours but it is ok to mix and match :)

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

Going with my LS400 yes it does sound a little noisy when the TRAC operates as it applies the brakes to individual rear wheels as part of the process, must admit I thought someone was locked in the boot and banging it to be let out when I first had mine activate.

Could be different on the IS of course.

Steering I'm not sure, check tyre pressures and perhaps try bleeding the system, if the fluid is below minimum it needs topping up.
