Recommendation Of Which Glue To Use For Gluing Glass To Rubber/plastic

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Can anyone recommend or suggest a suitable glue/adhesive product that glues rubber to glass? I am trying to glue the exterior rubber/plastic side of the windscreen to the glass windscreen itself. It's become loose. I assume it would be a similar product that the autoglass folk use?

Many thanks!

Alex

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your feedback. Yes it would need to be a reasonably watertight seal but has been lose for a few months without any water damage and the Lexus chappy didn't advise it was an issue in this regard. It seems it was a dodgy previous windscreen replacement.

You could use just a little dab of clear silicone. If you make it too permanent it could be a problem to remove upon further windscreen replacement. From memory the side strips are just decals. I believe the whole windscreen is bonded all round in position. Most windscreen companies will get new surround strips at the time of ordering.

Don't forget to ask, should the need arise, for acoustic glass. Often has a little ear symbol on it. I was told thats what Lexus use as original glass.
