2013 Ls460 Uk/usa Difference In Led Lighting

Recommended Posts

Howdy y'all (cowboy for "g'day, mates" - oops, I mean "cheerio"),

We (American Lexus owners and enthusiasts) are in a bit of a quandary stateside over the LED headlights (lamps or torches here?) on the 2013 LS460. There are three lensed elements in each of the left and right housings. The two small outermost lenses in each housing serve as both low beam and high beam lights. The large inboard lens though seems never to illuminate. We theorize that its purpose is not illumination, but rather focused projection of a laser or infrared beam associated with the collision (crash) avoidance system. Someone mentioned that this element does light up in the UK version of the vehicle, due to different lighting regulations applied by our respective government authorities.

Can any of you folks attest to the function of the large inboard lensed elements in the 2013 LS460 UK version with LED headlamps? Does it illuminate? If not, is it clearly documented as a component used in the crash avoidance system? Or does it have some other use? Is it non-functional in the UK as it appears to be in the USA? Thank you in advance for any response.

Greetings from dear old Blighty. I don't know the answer unfortunately but I'm sure someone with the info will be along shortly.

In exchange for the answers you require, we would be grateful if you could send us some of that nice warm weather please.

Cheers

Pete

Hi & welcome

I will be calling in my Lexus dealer next week & find out for you.

Could you also ask some of the people who didn't pay for their houses over there to pay for them, so the banks can give some cash out over here for people to do the same thing.

Can you also post a picture of that big yellow thing in the sky , Its been so long since I've seen it I have forgotten what its called. :driving:
