Amp In The Mk I Aristo

Recommended Posts

A question for the smart one's, been looking for the amp's that are in the MK I, so far I've think that there must be 2 amps, one for the front and one for the rear and sub, but have been unable to locate either, I'm more interested in the location of the rear amp, been trying to trace the wire though the AVO Meter but the amp is getting in the way with false results.

Have fitted in an Alpine Radio with the Versitle Link CD Controller, have had to rewire the whole speaker system but resulting in taking the amps out of the circult, would like to locate them so that I can rewire them to the new wiring loom. Thats all that is left to do, don't thing it's behind the radio, not much room there for the wiring let alone an amp. Not yet been through the boot, I've even got the rear seats out and the parcel shelf cover, the wiring for the sub seems to go into the passange compartment rather than the boot.

Any ideas, I'm going to have another attempt tomorrow evening

Hi mate.. I dont suppose the amp is still in the same place.. I know you have not got a cd changer in the boot but i wonder if the amp is still in the same place as mine.. right hand side of boot.. under carpet . mine is actualy hidden under the cd changer unit itself in a well so maybe its in the same place without the unit on top? .

:offtopic: any ideas on the speed restriction yet?

Cheers Jac,

There is a unit under the matting, it that is an amp, it the biggest I've seen in a while, maybe there a combi unit with the amp attached, I've have a look tomorrow.

As for the speed restriction, I've been looking into this this, so far, everything is pointing to the speed sensors that are behind the wheels, not sure why -

1 - Taking so long to kick in

or

2 - Why they are kicking at 140

But I'm still looking for more information on this

Cheers Dave and Jac,

You were right about the amp location, but unfortunately, the amp can't rewired, the pre-amp will not except any more than 40 watt RMS, the new Alpine is pushing out 60 W RMS, so - there is an amp available for grabs, a new one is on the way.
