Hi,

Not a good day this morning. On my way to work and my car is making a weird noise while on stand still or at the traffic lights.

It sounds like a grinding noise. It is coming from one of the pulleys I think.

Timing belt was replaced at 80'000 miles current mileage is 139'000.

Is this a common problem or am i being silly and need to change the belt and pulleys?

Also..

I have a squeaking noise from the rear tyre drivers side and gets louder while driving quicker. possibly brake caliper or disk?

Hi ibboyle. We're not ignoring your posts, I have a feeling this is a query some of the guys don't have an answer for.

The Cambelt, there were some issues identified with the is that Lexus brought the time to change it forward from 100,000 miles, to 60,000. If yours was last done at 80,000, then I think you're about ready to have it done again.

Squeaky noise could be something rubbing against the wheel, certainly if it gets louder at speed.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but it may be worth getting the car to a garage, unless you're competent to do the work yourself . . . I'm not, so I go to the garage.

could be water pump, power steering, alternator, AC compressor, idler pulley etc. Your garage should be able to identify what is making the noise quite easily.

Squeak at the rear, does it go away when you apply the brakes?
