The IS200 doesn't have an idle control valve as they use the throttle to control idle.

Try checking your hoses on the vacuum side etc to make sure none of them have popped off or are split. Perhaps have a listen with the engine running and giving it short bursts by operating the throttle from within the engine bay. You may find an induction leak that way.

I presume your plugs and air filter should be ok?

Any smell of petrol when your car hesitates/stumbles during acceleration?

Sorry just re-read that the problem occurs while you're slowing down. Not sure what could cause that, sorry :outforcount:

There's too many variables. You really need the fault codes read to start with to see if there are any pending. As a quick one you could also try disconnecting the Battery for 5 minutes to reset the ECU. This will clear your fault codes, but they'll soon return if the fault keeps occurring.

Please can anyone help me I have 2002 Lexus IS200. It has cut out one me twice when changing from 1st to 2nd gear and after short journeys. 1st time it started straight away but the 2nd time it would not start so I called recovery vehicle out and it was taken to garage. The next day it started 1st time at the garage and they do not know what the problem is.

That orange light on the dash that looks like a picture of an engine. You may not necessarily have one of these lit as the fault may not be apparent for long enough to trigger it, or it just doesn't work!

there is a good chance that if the light is not on then a fault will not be picked up with a fault code reader but it may have some old faults that may have occurred in the past and these can be deleted so you can start from a clean sheet
