How does everyone else compare performance (speed, power, mpg etc) specs between, say, the RX300, 350, 400h and 450h?

When I was looking to buy recently, the only way I could find to do that was using Auto Trader and I'm not sure of their accuracy. The Lexus (and any other makers) websites only give you specs for their latest models, not the older ones.

As an example of dodgy Auto Trader data, it has the RX350 with better fuel consumption figures than the RX300 (urban: 18mpg v. 16mpg, for example) - is that right? If so, how come?

yes the 350 has better economy over the 300. The 350 has a more modern, more efficient, engine.

Here is a comparison of the official figures. The hybrid economy figures are very difficult to achieve, take 10% off to be more realistic. Independent tests showed the 400h to be quicker 0-60 than the official figure, maybe low 7s.

Good info Colin sure a number of us appreciate this. You mentioned the other day that you typically get 32 mpg . This is the same as I am achieving over my first month.

Don't suppose there is a spec showing the standard features of the 400h SE nav anywhere I recently purchased the launch brochure published in 2004 which is a great buy but the focus is on the Hybrid system.

Thats Brilliant Colin just what I was looking for .

Looks as though my spec is Just missing the ML Audio and rear DVDs which are fitted to the L it seems to have everything else.

Much appreciated Colin

All the best

Saw an RX with silver roof rails as opposed to black ones. Was this an optional extra?

Not an option, but they were standard on the SR trim level from the around March 2008 along with the rear spoiler being colour coded with the body rather than black.

The SR trim level itself came out around August 2007 which sat between the 400h base and the SE trim level

2006 introduced the RX350 and a facelift to the RX platform. The spec itself didn't really change from the original other than the Nav and ML Stereo became an all in one package, either standard on the SE-L or an option on the SE. Before this update you weren't able to get a ML stereo with the SE trim. The new stereo allows DVDs to be played whilst the vehicle is stationary and it can play MP3 audio files.

The biggest different between the SE and SE-L on the RX300/350 is air suspension on the SE-L

Attached is the initial launch press release for the RX300
