I have got to replace my waterpump but I need to know if its just an auxiliary belt that drives it. If I slacken the belts im not going to put the timing out. If anyone has done this job a walk through would help amazingly

Hi mate, on some cars the water pump is driven by the timing belt, but i believe on the Is200 it is driven by an auxiliary belt (although i've only owned my IS200 for 2 weeks so hopefully someone else will confirm this), but anyway if you only need to take off auxiliary belts then you don't need to worry about timing, that only becomes relevant when changing the timing belt hence the name :)

whilst the water pump is driven by aux. belts I believe the timing belt sits in front of part of the water pump casing and as such needs to be removed to allow the pump to be replaced.

If you need to replace your pump then replace the bypass pipe and seals as well. I would also change the timing belt unless it has less than 30k miles on it.

the water pump runs off fan belt or cooling belt (aux)

yes you can change the water pump alone but its a bit tricky that's all as the cam belt is in the way.

everything will be off so people tend to change the cam belt kit along with the water pump and bypass pipe/seal.

then your set at least 60k -

:shifty:
