I am registering my trusted 2002 RX300 to French number plates to have a car at our holiday home. Can anyone advise if the headlights have to be converted for LHD driving? If so what needs to be changed?

It depends if you find a friendly CT centre. Some will pass it with the stickers but you are suppose to change the units. Some cars don't require either, my friends Subaru didn't require a change as the lhd and rhd lights were exactly the same so maybe check with a dealer.

hi Gaz 31. I own a 2006 RX 400H and I have been living in france for 3 months now. I will start the process of registering very soon. Do you know if the 400H units are adjustable. ? Are you sure about 'friendly CT centres turning a blind eye to stickers?

Hi Lee, sorry I have no idea if the units are adjustable or not. My local CT center passes UK cars with just the stickers, I have no idea if this is a common thing though. Where in France are you?

Hi Gaz, we're in Picardy about 30 mins north of Charles De Gaulle Airport. I rang 3 UK dealerships about this...1 didnt have a clue and the other 2 said the lights are OK for use in France. Actually no need for adjustment or stickers :)

You find that with a lot of cars that have HiD (Xenon) headlights as they can have just a small "kick" to the kerbside and not the "rising ramp" of the halogen lamps.

Hence there is virtually no glare to oncoming drivers.
