No Power And Only Revving To 3000 Rpm

Recommended Posts

hi all, new to this so bare with me!

i own a 2000 is200 sport, bought it last year and had no problems until now. first of all the car was turning over strong but wouldnt fire up, upon investigating i found the timing belt was wearing away, so i changed that with new bearings and tensioners etc.

once i started the car up it would only rev to 3000 rpm and begin to cut out, at first i thought maybe the timing belt had been off a notch or 2 and just needed reset, but now the car has no power at all, i know its not the Battery as i bought a new one while fixing the timing belt.

just wondering if anyone has any idea or had similar problems with their car as ive seen a few mechanics and none seem to know what is wrong. breaking my heart as the car got a full respray with other additions made not long before this happened and its too fine a car to go to waste

all advice is much appreciated, thanks :)

Tried that already, even replaced the Battery with another to see if it would make a difference but still nothing.

No lights come on at all when i turn the key not even the clock on her, before everything went wrong and she was still driving i remember that the TRC and engine management light were flashing, not sure if that has any relevance tho.

will look into the ecu as a guy told me recently that although the diagnostics is saying ive a throttle problem its an ecu sensor?
