Sat Nav - Entering A City/road

If I want to enter a road name in a city or smallish town I select "City / Street Name".

However when I typed "Bramhall" in (town in Cheshire) it didn't list it. However if I enter City centre it lists Bramhall but then I can't type the street name in. I have the CD version so am I right in thinking the detailed street maps are for the big Cities only ?

What version and date is your CD. Only the first couple of CDs didn't have the whole of the UK. Version 3.2 (based on 11/1999 data) should contain all roads provided they existed at the time.

I have just tried on Version 3.4 CD. Using city/street option Bramhall is defined and there are 517 streets listed.

Hi Colin, It's the CD based sat nav and on the CD is says "version 2.1. data 98-99". The dealer told me the CD was only 2 years old. So I have defo got an ancient version then ?

I would say it's 3.5 years old and does not have full UK coverage. I would recommend getting a new one, or at least try a new one from Lexus to see if the latest disc gives you what you want.

If you call Lexus on 0845 278 8888 they will let you borrow a disc for any European country for a few weeks. Useful if you go to Europe on holiday or you just want to try the latest UK disc. If you want to purchase a new disc you need to go to your dealer. They are about £170 so I would recommend joining GOLD to get a discount.
