When Do I Need A Timing Belt?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I bought a 2002 IS200 with around 40000 on the clock. I was informed it only needed a belt every 100,000 mikes (which was later revised to 60,000) There is a sticker on the engine stating it had a new belt in 2008. The mileage is now at 81,000. When should I go for a new belt?

Thank you.

Its 60,000 or 6 years whichever comes first and since it was last done in 2008 its due a change this year (2014) anyway,so have it done for piece of mind.

What's the average price you guys are paying for timing belt, tensioner, idler, water pump, auxiliary belts and o ring?

I just purchased a Gaites kit for £125.99.Plus 3 gaites aux belts at £28.99.No water pump or o ring seals in with that.

Thanks.Lee.
