Rx400H Spare Wheel Lost!

Hi,

Just been called by the garage servicing my RX400h to ask if I knew what had happened to my spare wheel! Apparently there is no trace of the cover, wheel or cable. They suggest that a thef has cut the cable and stolen it but I'm not at all sure that this is feasible.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

I assume you are absolutely sure you had one there in the first place? If so then yes they can be and are stolen, same for any (usually 4x4 or van) with the spare underslung.

The garage should be able to tell if the cable has been cut or sheered, if the latter I hope the chap following you was awake when it fell off

The cable can't be cut as you can't get to it. Either the flat plate on the end of the cable has been sawn off or the tyre has had a slow puncture which has made the wheel loose and the wheel movement while your driving has sheared the cable.
