Dribbling Windscreen Washers

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've had my 2008 RX400H for three days, and so far I love it!!! BUT I can't get the windscreen washers to cover the screen, the fluid just dribbles out. I know there's good pressure from the pump because the rear jet is fine, and also when I disconnect the hose to the jets there's a good flow. What I have noticed is when the jets are removed from the bonnet the spray is fantastic, so I know they're not blocked, but once the jets are located back in position it's back to a dribble. It seems that when the jets are located, the hose is bent at about 90 degrees, and this creates a kink which must be reducing the flow. I'm wondering if there's an alternative non-kink hose, or any other ideas would be really welcome!

To stop the hose kinking buy a couple of long thin springs that will slide over the pipe and let the pipe bend within the springs..........alternatively do as the Parrot suggests and fit new pipe.............

Thanks Parrot and BoxBrownie, mystery now solved. The previous owner had the bonner resprayed, and it must have been removed, and when it was refitted the hoses were incorrectly routed. I pulled the hoses out and located them through the obvious channels and now they connect with the jets in a straight line, jets spray perfectly!! By the way, not very impressed with the technical knowledge at Sidcup Lexus, I showed them some photos of the problem and nobody noticed the hose was connecting with the jet from the wrong direction.

Glad you got it sorted so easily, often the problem with spanner monkeys is there is no real useful tools in the top toolbox anymore, although they do seem to be able to locate the sellotape and page three sections for the tea room!
