My steering wheel has developed the occasional squeak when I turn it. It is only now and then , but it is annoying. Has anyone experienced this? is it a case of some judiciously applied WD40?

thanks in advance

WD40 is not actually a very good long-term lubricant, silicone oil in a spray can might be better

Agreed, silicon spray is your friend.

I took the cowling off around the steering column so i could get a better job done, works a treat.

Also pulled open the seat belts to the max limit and gave the belt a shot too, no sluggish retracting belts for me, they like arkwrights till, have your arm off if you not careful.

Just be careful when using inside the car, thie spray can get places you don't want it, so a good wipe down after is the call of the day.

Very true don't get it on glass it will not come off, I had the same problem once, took the covers off couldn't find anything obvious put it back together and the noise went and never returned.
