  1. Welcome, Hope it's going well, and your delivery was on time!
  2. Cheers, excellent advice. I will give that a whirl. Just need my reg docs to come from DVLA and then I can wear the new plates. Definately think I'll use the screws. I presume if I buy another car the holes are going to be in the right places, or is that just too much to ask? Either way, it sounds like the sticky pad option doesn't really allow you to move the plates between several cars without causing some damage, and new plates each time, although costly, isn't too much to expect.
  3. Welcome, I agree great colour choice Sorry to hear about the bump. Hopefully it will be as good as new after the repair. I know what it's like driving around in a new damaged car. Mine wasn't hit by a bus though, just a fat fingered mechanic at Lexus who didn't know how to remove an IS250 dash without damaging it. Hey ho.
  4. I was told it was the SatNav wiring loom, and that they has added some insulation. To be honest the actual rattle sounded more like a loose screw bouncing on the speaker cone, and sometime when driving I would bang the dash and it would go for some time. Turning up the ML stereo always got rid of any rattles and squeaks, especially near full volume Good luck with yours, I hope they treat the dask with TLC, unlike hoof hands charlie who did mine.
  5. You are right, my IS has plastic screws. Hadn't looked previously Just deciding whether to screw holes in the new plates (depends where the screw caps align too), or use the sticky pads. Anybody got a good tip for drilling plastic plates without damaging them, creating an air bubble around the hole?
  6. Great tip. I have my new plates coming soon. Ordered online from Demon Plates, and will be needing to remove the original plates installed by the dealer. Off to get some fishing line cheers!
  7. Just to let you all know. My Lexus IS250 goes back into the dealers on Weds as they now have all the replacement parts, which were damaged whilst they attempted to fix the original rattle in the centre console speaker. I have been rattle free since the fix in Jan, but had the damaged dash to live with since then :tsktsk: Anyway, regardless of all this, I still love the car, the styling and the standard. Just a damn shame the dealer had two left hands and fingers like udders :duh:
  8. Hi peeps, I am also in the market for a Bike Rack solution for my IS250. I don't want one of those universal boot mounted ones, as I have seen the damage they can do to paintwork and bumbers. I was thinking of roof mounted system. Called Lexus dealer for a quote and guess how much? Well I want to take two adult bikes and two kids bikes to Cornwall this summer. The quote was £566.68, inc VAT and fitting. I have looked at Thule systems, and also Atera, which seem to be good aluminiun bike holders. But what I need first is a good set of roof bars for the IS250. Has anybody bought a good set, that doesn't cost the earth? Also just for info. the Lexus dealer told me this spec. for carring things, not sure where it is from: The IS 250/220 roof can support 75kg Max weight The roof rack weighs 4.5kg Each carrier weighs 3.2kg making the total weight 17.3 kg for 4 bike holders. For 4 bikes they must not weigh over 57.3kg between them Anyway, any advice or lessons learnt would be very helpful. Once I get a solution I will share my views and experience here. Thanks
  9. Well the rattle problem was a BIG job for my car as the damage the garage caused is still awaiting a part from Japan !!! :tsktsk: The Lexus Dealer I won't mention has had to order parts for the gear shift housing and dash trim as they damaged the plastic when removing these parts to get at the rattle which came from below the centre speaker. Needless to say I have been driving rattle free for some 5 months or so, and still have a damaged dash. Escalated through Lexus Customer Services and still waiting the parts !!! Utter crap :shutit:
  10. Either way, it's still a womans voice shouting at you. I seem to always have my Lexus SatNav woman (named Sexy Lexi) telling me to do a U-turn at the next opportunity, and if it's legal. So human or robotic, the map reader stilll gives me grief
  11. Thanks Editor for that. So we still need to go out and buy an AA or RAC road atlas then
  12. M60 Roadworks near my house cause the SatNav to go bonkers. Because they are building a wider motorway and new bridges, whenever I go under the new bridge or over it, the SatNav thinks I am on one road, then the next, and sometimes I'm doing a magic floating trick.... Does anybody know how and if the map gets updated?
  13. I have compiled CDs with MP3 and WMA without any problem or tweaking. I have the ML system included with the MM/SatNav kit. For info, I use Nero CD software to burn CDs. It has a simple option to Burn MP3 Disc or WMA Disc. This works fine, and I have also manually created a disc with a mix of both types of file, and they play in the Lexus. One thing I have noticed about all MP3/WMA files, when you select Random (RND) play, it plays a tune then before selecting the next choice it plays a few seconds of the next track. Slightly annoying if you then decided to sing along to that one and it jumps to the next RND tune....back track doesn't work due to the next song being random... :duh: .hey ho.!! Bigger fish to fry!
  14. Did you know the following sequence will put your Lexus IS 250 into pampered mode: 1) Get out of the car 2) Stand and stare at car 3) Get in the car 4) Sit and start at car 5) Get out of the car 6) Pay man money for full valet 7) Stand and stare at car 8) Stand and stare at car 9) Stand and stare at car 10) Get in car 11) Sit and smell the cleanness 12) Sit and look around car 13) Smile 14) Start engine and admire clocks 15) Select a good compilation MP3 CD 16) Drive away relaxed, smiling and content :winky: Your car is now in Pampered Mode. To revert to pampered mode you follow the same sequence. P.S Thought a guy was having a stroke in his new Lexus IS250 the other day. He was flaying his arms and his legs seemed to be going up and down as if in fit. Turns out he was just trying the handbrake/foot brake sequence to disable his nanny settings.... :duh: At the same time he kept shouting "I'm Hungry" and the car kept saying "Displaying border crossings", "Displaying Ice Rinks". He did seem very red in the face :P
  15. Yes that sounds like the very same rattle I had. Lexus Dealer removed the radio/SatNav and inserted some foam rubber behind the unit to silence the wiring loom. That has fixed the rattle, but in the process of pulling the dash apart the mechanics have damaged the Metal effect trims on both sides of the gearbox and the black plastic side panels on both footwells. They have ordered the parts and the car will be going back in soon. So, good luck !! AYE!! My rattle was fixed when it went back to the Lexus dealer, they said that the wiring loom part of the Multimedia kit was loose. They damaged the centre console in the process though and 3 months on I am still being told they are waiting spares from Japan !!!! :tsktsk: Not a happy Lexus driving bunny !! Just been on phone to Lexus Customer Relations and they are chasing, but non of this gets over the problem I am driving damaged goods caused by the dealer.
  16. Just seen this on Yahoo. Anybody with an IS250 got a silver engine like this? Mine is dark grey/black. Found from: http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search/images/v...&ei=UTF-8&src=p Also found this sweet Lexus IS site: http://www.thenewis.com/
  17. If you did go for the Lexus as opposed to the BMW, you would not be disappointed. But it sounds like you'd be more out of pocket.
  18. Just searched for images of the IS250 Sport on Yahoo.co.uk Images section and look at the only result that comes up...... http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p...=fp-tab-web-t-1

  20. I have some wind noise from the drivers door at high speed 70mph + but not sure if I am being super sensitive to noises after reading stuff on here, and it being a very quiet interior. My passenger reported a knocking sound from the seat belt pillar. I got them to drive me and I heard it, just behind the height adjustment. No amount of adjusting and twiddling has fixed it so when my car is back in for replacement dash (due to Lexus dealer man handling) I'll raise this too. Don't really want them pulling more panels off after the disaster with them fixing the rattle from the dash. Grrr :tsktsk:
  21. My UK model just has a blank panel where that compartment is shown. I have no sunroof so the panel is completely different with no dial control, just buttons for the reading lights and the maid door light. Shown here: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...pic=28182&st=0#
  22. Just want to send my regards too, and hope your wifes hand recovers 100%.
  23. The DVD player does play DVD Audio, this is not the same as a DVD with MP3's on it. DVD Audio is the same as CD Audio (standard uncompressed sound tracks) but obviously with more capacity. I am still waiting for an answer on whether any DVD formats with MP3 files will work in the Mark Lev system. So far the computers says NO ! :mat:
  24. I have the same colour car but with grey leather interior, and it came from the dealer with black foot mats. I am happy with it. In fact even black dirty mats stand out due to the footwell lights.
  25. I have been looking for a portable DVD player for my son (age 6) that can be used both in the car on long journey and portable. For in-car use I feel the tablet style would be best as it is more compact for the back of a headrest. I have seen the Mustek 7" and the new 9" models and wondered if anybody has these, can recommend them or other devices. Cheers in advance Mustek PL8C70 7” Tablet DVD Player http://www.boysstuff.co.uk/product.asp?id=12959&src=Home Mustek PL8A90 9 inch tablet style portable DVD player http://www.3wisemonkeys.co.uk/proddet.jsp?cat=1 also http://audiovisual.kelkoo.co.uk/b/a/ps_14750706/127701.html
