  1. It looks like it's the wrong way round in the second picture.... Done to match a baseball cap perhaps?? :D
  2. The thing I like about the Lexus key is the fact it is slim and fits in your pocket discreetly. These glove things just add bulk to the key by making it about 50% thicker.
  3. At what point did I display any lack of solidarity? I was merely adding my point. If someone wants to organise a placard waving protest outside Lexus HQ I'll be there dishing out sausage butties. I do think that some people are winding themselves up into such a frenzy that if a sparrow farts as it flies past their new IS they'll have it straight back to the dealer for a fix.
  4. I'll tell you what; if the beautiful, quiet and refined IS250 I've just driven to work is a "shambles" then *** help the rest of the manufacturers when Lexus get it togther then. Edit: Oh I've just noticed you can't say the name of the Almighty on here - good on you LOC - keep religion out of Lexus.
  5. Just my 2p worth on the subject: I'm just into my fourth month of IS250 ownership - completely delighted and no rattles. I have to say that anybody who is talking about rejecting a car that they haven't even taken delivery of yet, because of rattles it may or may not have, is going to be a very hard customer to please. Good luck Lexus GB. I don't know if Lexus monitor these forums but I suspect they do - I know Audi monitor theirs because my wife works for them. They've even used evidence from forums to reject warranty claims after claiments talked about tracking their TTs. Anybody who thinks that Lexus in Japan are blindly knocking out ISs oblivious to any problems further down the line are unfamiliar with the automotive industry. All warranty claims are analysed and any that come up consistently are referred back to engineers for a fix that is then incorporated in the line.
  6. I've got one of these and because the Lexus is so quiet it works pretty well. I leave it clipped to the visor all the time and just press the button once when I get in to link it to the phone in my pocket. The battery lasts over a week before it needs recharging. It is cetainly the best 'cheap' option to a fully installed kit I have come across.
  7. I also went to Cornwall for the weekend (Only from Devon 200mile round trip) I only got 37.9mpg though. I must have a heavier right foot than Javeeds. I was still pleased was 37.9mpg though. I drove from Newcastle to Birmingham centre and back in my IS250 on a tank of fuel averaging 38mpg. I wasn't too disappointed with that as I was hoofing it for most of the way.
  8. rear window visibility, precisely the reason i got rid of the IS200 and bought a 325i sport BMW, plus it had parking sensors. New IS250 is even worse, i could never buy a Lexus from now on unless they change drastically. Or you could learn to park. I don't have a problem reversing into any space. The mirrors are plenty big enough.
  9. Am I missing something here? The parking brake on the IS250 Auto is just that - a parking brake. You get in the car, let it off and the only time you need to think about it again is when you park up. You don't need to use it any other time - certainly not on hills or at traffic lights.
  10. Ordered last week in November, took delivery 21st December.
  11. The only niggle I have is the position of the boot and petrol flap release buttons. Why did they put them next to each other, unilluminated and low down on the dash? At night when you go to release the boot for a passenger it is really difficult to get the right one.
  12. Most likely explanation is some sort of atmospheric polution. Cars parked regularly near railway lines, for example, can become covered by tiny iron filings from braking trains.
  13. Thanks Neimad, this may explain why Lexus recommend that you leave the engine idling for up to a minute when you get home. The 220d is the only model with a turbo. The IS250 doesn't have one.... Mind you it would be some beast if it did!
  14. I think by that time you will be so tuned into listening for rattles that no car manufacturer would be able to supply one to your satisfaction. Relax, all will be fine.
  15. No good dealership will stamp your service book if you do your own oil change because they have no idea of the quality of the oil you used. If you subsequently had a problem due to the wrong oil being used you could present your fully stamped up book and expert repairs under warranty. If you supply your own oil for a service it must be in a sealed container and they will generally put "customer supplied own oil" on the invoice. I understand one of the selling point of the new IS is that it uses only ordinary mineral oil because of the short 10k service intervals and therefore you don't have to fork out for expensive synthetic oils like BMW and Audi owners. I don't know if this is the case for the old IS but 60 odd quid even for synthetic oil is an absolute rip-off, it must have genuine gold particles in it.
  16. My IS250 ticks at idle too, it's normal. The windcreen de-icer button down to the right of the steering column turns on heating elements along the bottom of the windscreen - it's primarily designed to unfreeze your wipers from the screen. The windcreen defrost button on the console directs all air up the inside of the screen for quicker clearing.
  17. I think the book recommends a gentler driving style for the first 1000 km or so - basically don't rev to the red line or let the engine labour.
  18. I bought my IS250 off Jeff @ Newcastle and found him to be very helpful, without being too pushy. He booked me in for a test drive and then let me take my time and the car sold itself. I'm sure if you give him a bell he'll put you in the first 220d demonstrator they get.
  19. That grey leather and wood combination is the worst interior I have seen for a long time. Truly vomit inducing.
  20. I've driven through Death Valley to Furness Creek and test cars have passed me going in the other direction. Most other manufacturers test there as well - it pushes the air con and the cooling systems to their limits. Also, there is no evidence that this rattle is a "problem" yet - a number of owners have reported a rattle and dealers will look at each report in turn and check with Lexus to see if this is cropping up with other dealers. If it becomes obvious that there is a common theme, Lexus will issue a common fix to the problem and/or put measures in place to correct the problem in production. All vehicles go through a continuous cycle of improvement through production.
  21. Lexus test their cars in conditions far harsher than ours; from the cold of the Arctic to the heat of Death Valley. FWIW, I have just purchased an IS250 SE and it is tight as a drum with no rattles.
  22. The passenger airbag comes out through pre-weakened areas in the dashboard in front of the passenger seat. I had a Citroen Xantia once and everytime I needed a courtesy car they gave me a pink AX. I looked like a mobile hairdresser in it.
