  1. labels are for posers. I would be more anti label as i wont wear Tommy Hilfiger (sp?) or anything that has a medium to large logo emblazened on it. Thats why i went for the IS 200, quality and not flash. If it looks good and is comfy i'll always pay extra regardless of label. For footwear i will always buy the best in the shop.
  2. First let me say that we are racing to 120kph in Ireland so we will not break any speed limits and we will be doing it on a motorway when there are no others on the road. Its simple, who can get to the Speed limit first. My mate reckons his 1992 honda hatchback 1.5 Vtec can beat my 2003 VVTI IS 200. He is 30 yrs of age and i am 32 and neither of us drive hard but for one brief moment we shall have a race. He says he can double clutch and that intrigues me. I looked into double clutching but it seems a bit alien so can anyone shed some light on it, also what else could i do?. His car is worth 50p and mine is worth 21k. Lexus' name is at stake here. I am not a boy racer but would like some guidance for this one off race. thanks in advance.
  3. Elvis is certainly a great entertainer but not really an artist. Charlie Chaplin would surely qualify for both. While i am not a great fan i do admire his ingenuity.
  4. How does the FA always manage to mess everything up? maybe you should be looking for a new FA rather than a new manager.
  5. Scolari can't speak English and to be honest i dont fancy Wayne Rooneys chances at learning portugeuse :P
  6. People who dont use indicators, especially on roundabouts. People who drive 10km + under the speed limit on a decent stretch of well lit road/motorway. The only thing that would make me get out of a car and have a few *cough* words with the driver is tailgaiting during heavy traffic. The reason i am leaving 40ft between me and the car travelling at 50mph in front of me is incase there is an accident not for them to make rubbish attempts to overtake me.
  7. My mate and I are going out with sisters who live in a not so great part of Dublin. He has an Audi which was broken into at the weekend, simple case of smash and grab because a jacket was in the car. So, How easy is it to steal an IS 200? am i safe from break ins? I never leave anything in the car and i know the stereo can't be stolen without a great deal of effort. Thanks.
  8. only seen this thread now. I found it using google looking for info on Lexus. After finding this very helpful site i bought a S/H 2003 is 200. I hope the site owners get well looked after because of that.
  9. if you wanna bet on the world cup go to www.betfair.com. they will give you the best odds, if you find better please post here. England are 8.4/1 which is a pretty good bet. Great team but so far they seem to produce less than the sum of their parts. Can they do it? Being Irish i like to see England loose but with Rooney showing pure genious for Man U they are hard to bet against. Plus England playing on German soil give them an extra few percent that might count. Prediction wise, Brazil are incredible and teams trying to play them at their own game will loose and teams that will play the defensive game will loose, they have it all but the present team has yet to prove itself on Euro turf. Ronaldo is injury prone, he took a knock against Real Sociedad and may be out for a few weeks but should be ok for the WC. Take note of that if you are thinking of betting on the highest goal scorer of the tournament. Germany have a great team and on home soil, as with England will be playing with added vigor. Bet against them at your peril. My bet for last 4 would be England, Italy, Germany and Brazil. - pretty predictable and soccer usually is, with the exception of the world cup. The winner is easy to predict (Germany, England or Brazil) but who gets into the last four is another story. England are as predictable as the weather but they have the depth in the squad and playing in Germany is going to be a serious boost, as much as it pains me to to say it i think this could be their tournament.
  10. I did a search but due to my lack of mechanical knowledge i may be using the wrong terminology. I know that the sound from the tires can be loud at high speeds but there has been an increase in the amount of wind noise from the driver door at either above 50mph or less on a windy day. I have checked that there was nothing stuck to any part of the rubber door seals on the door and the frame. The door doesn't close with the same solidness that it once did. Its a S/H 2003 IS 200 and is still under warranty. Any suggestions about how to combat this would be greatly appreciated. Rob
  11. whopper 9 times out of 10 or a kebab after a feast of pints.
  12. yay, finally completed level 5 great game
  13. PS3, the pros and cons: Pro Serious gaming machine. Blu Ray Gaming heritage, more likely to produce a lot more games than the xbox Cons Price, price speculation varies from 600 to 1000 euro (£500-£700). Either way that is a very very expensive console. Blu Ray drives will add to the cost of the consoles Blu Ray discs may cost more than £10 to produce which will mean the cost of games is going to be high. Cell- the new untested (on the public) chip that Sony are manufacturing just so they can save a few bucks. Trying to compete with AMD and Intel as a newbie might not be such a good idea. Only time will tell. The bottom line about the whole Sony v MS console debate rests on a single issue. Cash. MS have 30+ billion to play around with, Sony only have 2 billion. The squirt (Sony) has been smack talking the bully (Microsoft) and while MS can afford to loose money on each Xbox sold, Sony will have to get back money invested in R&D as well as the expensive state of the art components that it will be placing in the PS3. Has Sony overstretched itself? quite possibly in my opinion. If the Playstation fans support the new unit it will be a success BUT if it turns out to be an overpriced bugged console we may see Sony taking a very bit hit financially. They plan to sell 200million consoles in the next 5 years (12mil in the first year) which seems very far off the mark imo as they have only sold 100mil PS2's to date and in a couple of years they will be announcing the PS4. Will you spend £600 on a PS3 (with £60-£80 for each game) for your son/daughter/yourself for xmas? I am very interested to see how this plays out, the competition between Sony and MS has given us better consoles that we thought possible and i for one hope this grudge match continues.
  14. Jaguar XJ8 (97-03) 50% - average cost of repair £282.40 Jaguar X-Type (01) 9% - average cost of repair £924.16 :duh: Sun readers only get to drive nice cars like lexus or jags when they are stolen.
  15. for a walk down memory lane (if your old enough) why not try 1980's arcade games
  16. my windscreen is cracked in an almost semi circle going from the bottom of the windscreen 9" from left side, up about 4 inches and back to the base of the windscreen around 16 inches from the left side. It is almost invisible from the outside and barely visible from the inside unless i'm using the wipers and looking down and left. Question: I was promised a new windscreen when i bought the car but perhaps i should try and wrangle new sparkplugs seeing as the crack is very unlikely to travel any further. What would you do? Its an early 2003 model, i heard the plugs are awkward to take out of these. Thanks in advance Rob PS price of new windscreen versus plug replacement would be nice.
  17. if i was a fireman, i would cut open cars for fun. "sorry i thought that doll was a baby trapped in your car" i would say. "here is your roof and doors" i would add.
  18. exactly, if it doesn't cost too much it would definitely be worth it. Hang on, i'll see if i can find Dr Nick Riviera's number.
