  1. Hi Duff, Welcome to the club! :) Have a look at this thread about problems with IS200 CD changers.
  2. c'mon guys - is200 is in a different class to the S3 (which is basically a hot hatch) we're talking refinement and driving pleasure here, not a power trip B)
  3. well, I've had the car a year now and the problem is still there after 14,500 miles :( at least it doesn't seem to be getting worse ... more of an annoyance in the mornings ;) Useful info from MarkF - will put pressure on my dealer to change the gearbox at next service (have already had two oil changes which only cure symptoms temporarily) will let you guys know how I get on
  4. After reading this thread, I'd like to nominate Bluebeard to the position of IS200 'everything to do with lighting' guru ... GRiM: wot's the story with the group buy?
  5. Teddy, could be a slightly warped CD ... had a similar problem a couple of months ago and only managed to fix it by unloading the other five CD's and then holding down the eject button until the 'sticky' one finally decided it wanted to see the light of day :) Haven't used that particular CD since and the problem has not reocurred ...
  6. I'm after finding a 'which oil for my car?" link on the Mobil site at link which recommends Mobil 1 with SuperSyn™ 10W-30 for the IS300 (IS200 isn't listed) so I'll ask em to put that in next service cheers :)
  7. Guys, What engine oil would you recommend for the IS? Dealer used Esso Ultron for the first service but I was thinking of asking them to put in a different synthetic (Castrol or Mobil) at 20K any thoughts ... ?
  8. My dealer fitted a Nokia carkit to my IS and it DOES mute the radio/CD once the phone rings .. sound comes from the Nokia speaker under the passenger footwell and the quality is fine - you can adjust the volume using the volume control on the phone handset (6210). Have also set the auto answer feature in handsfree profile so I don't have to take my hands off the wheel to answer a call :P
  9. some of it is UK specific but filled it in anyway only gave the gearbox a 2 tho
  10. just reading this thread ... seem to remember something also about clutching the car before starting it in the manual ... :duh:
  11. ianw1974, I'd stay away from the Autoglym Clean Wheels :o (if that's what you use) as it contains acid which will strip the clear lacquer from your alloys over time, exposing the aluminium to the elements. I'd recommend a mild solution of good quality car wash, a sponge and a bit of elbow grease instead :)
  12. Over the past few weeks, changer has been acting up when car is started in the morning (esp if it's been cold that night) ... keeps 'seeking' to the beginning of the track it is trying to play but if I change to another CD then that usually cures it. Anyone have this problem? (I play a mixture of CDs and CD-Rs)
  13. GRiM, count me in if you go ahead with this group buy Cheers :)
  14. drool drool out of curiousity, how much does that little lot cost dark_is200?
  15. Engine should be pretty much run in after 3000 miles i.e. moving parts should be 'bedded in' at this stage so if your engine is not idling quietly or making strange noises, I'd suggest taking it straight back to the dealer and let them check it out.
  16. Have had my IS200 just over a year now and am VERY pleased with it :D Would consider replacing it with an IS300 except for the fact that they cost €61,605 over here ... :(
  17. Anyone have any experience renting a lexus on the continent? I am taking a trip to Italy in Jan and it'd be cool to try an IS300 to see how it compares with the 200 ... mik
  18. newbie member ... have had an is200 (new) since Jan, gearchange from 1st to 2nd has always been sticky (kinda have to feel my way into second sometimes esp if engine is cold). Dealer changed gearbox oil twice, second time was told they used 'syntrax' oil but symptom is still there. Anyone have a similar experience with their manual box?
