  1. From what I've seen that appears to be the case I hope this helps jayt13. Investigate the specific wiring kit....may not be in the box with camera....I believe it's a separate item and has a fuse as part of it's loom.
  2. OK....I had a look for you but there is nothing evident regards the connection? However I think I saw somewhere in the literature that the "Wiring Kit" designated for these cameras comes with its own fuse? If this is the case all Halford's did was to make a connection to a permanent live with the additional fuse being between the camera and the connection....I looked also for a NEW wire under the bonnet, again nothing to be seen. I suspect a connection was picked up somewhere behind the dash itself and it's tucked away out of sight? As stated before whilst I have this gadget I know next to nothing about the tech side of installation etc. Maybe something on Youtube?
  3. No problem ....IF I KNEW where the fuses are? I stay away from the car in terms of any thing technical...but if I find out where the board is etc I'll have a look
  4. Had Halford's install my 512G...wired all time on to allow motion detector...but you can switch the camera on/off and take out of the car very easily. Not sure of which fuse connection was actually used. But they did say that if I wished the fuse position could be changed so that the camera would work only whilst the engine is running. I've only had it a fortnight, very pleased but I am wary that if you leave the camera switched on and recording also stays on even though the car has been switched off you are liable to run down the battery. Takes a bit of getting used to but that's the users problem the camera works well. 223,000 (klms) o/a 6.44 litres per 100k 43.9 mpg 2007 IS220d
  5. Strange to say this but listening on here over the years no two 220Ds are the same it would be interesting to drive another 220d to compare with your existing 220D there would more than likely be just as much of a difference.
  6. Hi Matus Both you and I have been on this forum preaching that the driving style in VITAL when using the 220D whilst I haven't done the battery disconnect I have achieved 43mpg overall since I first owned the 220D Brand new out of the box. I have now done 99000klm I have kept a record of many things on a spreadsheet I have every litre of diesel recorded. I too always get the EGR cleaned when I service, always change the oil and air filter....I service religiously evry 15000klms...short interval I know BUT I get the return from the car. I remember back in the early days when individuals were getting only 27-30 out of the car....they were literally calling us liars with out 40-44 mpg returns. I gave up commenting on the forum but I am refreshed by the fact that you have stuck to the principal of learning the style that works with the car. Others amazed by what you and I knew from the start. Rev this car high and drive in accelerated spurts dashing everywhere and you'll need an oil tanker following you...well done interesting post. I must check my signature but currently 43 mpg over 99000klms
  7. Hi Matus We've been around a long time on this forum...I agree with you..you've really got to experiment with the 220D its unconventional in many repects of driving. I have not tried your method but I'll be doing a long drive 400k+ in two weeks and I'll try it out. I have found that cruise control on my car at least very economical as well. Using it a lot recently and getting great returns.
  8. Boot to the floor let it know who's boss...only joking. :winky: The gearbox will take getting used too, take it easy and you'll be fine 1500 revs would be a good target for a while try not to go below and you'll see the gear ratios will work for you..stay out of 6th gear...not for ordinary sub 80 mph driving. Economy is fine in my car 2007...6.4 litres per 100 klms over 71000 klms = 44 mpg from the start...others I fear had the Boot to the floor to let it know who's boss approach and spent week after week crying about economy. Now in my case I'm driving 700 to 800 klms ( circa 450 to 500 miles) every fortnight that's how often I vist the Diesel pump. To be fair part of the economy comes from doing a fair mix of long and short journeys. All short journeys will not in my experience achieve 44mpg. Best of luck with the car...enjoy...keep safe.
  9. I've have not done this but two things come to mind which others might also comment on. Does this modification affect your Insurance upwardly?? Does this modification affect your emmissions??
  10. I know there is a knack to it because I've observed my mechanic changing this filter. be patient ...don't force it someone will come up with the solution. Not much help I know...but at least you know you're missing something....good luck
  11. Has to be all the salt that's spread on UK roads that's the cause...as much as I'd like a new set of alloys there's not a spec of corrosion on mine
  12. Probably the EGR valve and maybe the CAT this is the dreaded crawl home mode. Not sure what causes it but happens often enough. The codes of course will show whats happened and its likely you'll have to have the latest ECU update installed and wait for it.... yes the 5th injector (if it hasn't already been done under recall. This is all warranty work if your warranty hasn't expired ...NO COST...otherwise potentially expensive
  13. Spot on ....I've being saying this on here for the last two years, the car's different learn how to drive it and it performs to expectation. Good luck with it....I have a wonderful car....long may it last
  14. Fuel usage will rise and you may well get the outside of your tyres wearing more than they should
  15. Many drivers of 220d found out that the car was very different re gear ratios etc. Others thrashed the hell out of it and others had many rants because it had to be the car not them. I remember reading many threads from Philthy...to be fair and unbiased he stands out as one of the most critical who was in continuous denial and disbelief that others were able to get the expected performance from the car. I believe this thread of his to be stirring the pot once more but I can see from responses that others feel the same way. Philthy you had issues with your dealer as I remember and proceeded to take it out on the car?????????? To try to mock dgman as a culprit because he's happy with his car is disingenuous and completely unwarranted...additionaly to make a comment about having to be a Lexus owner before being allowed to comment on this site is to say the least a snide low-grade remark which many on here will resent. You had choices, others had choices and we made them. We as a motoring community will comment on what we find to be of interest on a site which is designed for owners but open to individuals with constructive comments and contributions. Make a New Years resolution not to begrudge people who are happy with their choices, any thing else take it up with Lexus...through the courts if you have to! Time to let it drop, I hold you no ill will but to be fair to all you've had more than your fair share of Lexus bashing when an owner or as I understand it now not an owner. The decision you made was right for you...our decisions were right for us....end of story.
  16. I had no problem ever with fuel consumption...5.8 litres per 100klm was my average. Had a recall for 5th injector change, I gave it a great deal of thought as I don't agree with fixing things that aren't broken. Well I went ahead...a week later the car IS220D went into limp home mode and I had to have both the CAT and the EGR valve replaced. Now my fuel consumption is at best averaging 6.8 litres per 100klm...well done LEXUS...I don't think!!!
  17. I'll bet either your heat was up HI or the A/C was maybe on cool down when this 'CRACK' occurred it appears to be expansion and cotraction of materials with a quick vaiance in cabin temperature. Happens to me BUT ONLY when heat turned up or quick cool using A/C Maybe others will have other reasons
  18. I understand your frustration but I can't agree that the car should have folding seats (more squeaks and rattles) on the grounds that the car is not a station wagon its a luxury executive model. Nor would I want to slide cardboard cartons etc with steel staples etc in them to destroy my leather trim...I'd much prefer to pay a few quid delivery or phone a friend. With regard to transporting goods the boot takes 2 good size suitcases or 5 bags of shopping....its a small boot and I did consider the car in this regard when I purchased. I'd go further and say its not a family car but is able to carry 4 in comfort should the need arise. I hope you don't take this response to be impolite its the last thing I want. The car is small, sleek, good-looking, powerful and luxurious in my view not mean't to be used as a pick up truck.
  19. I know this is not the answer you expect but if I had to buy a car with 1 key I would only fully exchange all monies when the second key was presented otherwise I would have taken my quote to the vendor and said this is what you have to reduce your price by ....in this way the cost of a key would not bother me. You do make a good point...whichever solution you end up with now is going to be bloody expensive ...on the wrong person....YOU!
  20. Whilst resetting my 'Yellow' indicator for both Speed and Tacho I've noticed another setting named Priming...choice ON or OFF. I could not find anything in the index of the manual on the IS220D just wondering can anyone shed any light on this setting and explain what it does and is it specific to the Diesel only? Thanks in advance
  21. 43000 klms...almost 27000 mls...Just changed to the Toyo T1Rs from Dunlops. The rears probably had 5,000 miles left in them but I prefer to change all four when I change. The tyre guy thought that these tyres were really good ...I took his word for it. The road noise I think is no better or worse. I have not driven in the wet with them yet but they have a pretty impressive looking tread pattern for moving water away...I hope.
  22. I'm not joking, I am starting to think that you and Mateus are driving completely different cars to the rest of us . I have never seen any better than 6.5l per 100km even on a country run. I got a nice letter today from my dealer advising me that my 20,000km service is due and I should get it done with a lexus dealer etc because it may affect the resale value etc. Pity i got it done four months ago. No mention of my ongoing paint problems though or a fix for same. Lexus service is almost as good as BMW. Hi Barry, Living in the West...Galway...lots of rural driving seldom over 60mph see signature below for mpg. I know you're on the east coast maybe a lot of your driving is in congested traffic...in which case your 220D will GULP diesel..!!!
  23. 57 next month...I've seen some threads where some owners have been called 'Geriatric Drivers'...so they, the young speed merchants were right all along...shucks!!! Its probably best described as a middle-aged persons car. This car would not have been practical whilst our 4 children were growing up...nor had I €53,000 to spend on a car until they had grown up and flew the coup :winky: (Previously owned two E Class but had purchased them as 3 year olds...great family car) Some of my economy has to be put down to the fact that 75% of the miles only has me in the car...then of course the other 25% there's only my wife along with me...no big loads in other words. The fact that this car ...220D may be a fleet car for some companies may well account for the younger ownership (driver) whereas the price is achieveable by the middle-aged because they have worked much longer and have the readies...paid off their mortgage, have an aversion to paying intrest etc. So yes its makes sense...that the ownership age group would tend to be on the high side. Happy next birthday everyone especially if its your 50th.
