  1. Like Sagitar I too have had to go down the Google route (actually it was Multimap but let's not split hairs) to get somewhere off the beaten track. At new year we rented a cottage in Northumberland which was literally in the middle of nowhere. The only way I could enter it into the Lexus satnav was to enter the Latitude & Longitude. I double checked with my old TomTom and it went straight to it from the postcode. I have to admit that for pinpoint accuracy, the full post code method is far superior, especially if you're in a large industrial estate and there are no numbers to the companies address - especially one in Wimborne I visited recently Personally, I'm not overly impressed with the satnav, especially considering its price (yes, I know you get bluetooth and ML etc) though I do find the Petrol Station POI function handy as I always try to fill up at a BP garage to get my Nectar points!!
  2. You're going to start you know who off in a minute... Shhh - you're right. Keep your head down, say nothing and let's hope this drops off the front page asap. LOL .... Ah you guys crack me up "It's all getting too boring..." Oh sh*t, who woke him up...
  3. What do you use to clean the leather....? Same problem here with slight Hue The first time I just used a barely-damp cloth but after a few recent trips to the tip wearing filthy clothes I used some cheapo leather cleaner we got free with our leather suite - had it years but don't know the name. There is usually only me in the car so the drivers seat gets the most hammer, in fact whilst visiting relatives over the easter weekend, the back seats got used for only the 2nd or 3rd time!!
  4. No kids so went for the beige leather & black exterior. IMO, the black and grey make the interior look too dingy. Yes, the drivers seat is starting to take on a slight hue, probably from my black jeans, but it scrubs up okay and looks good when clean.
  5. Yes, I read this in the Sunday Times as well. http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_...icle3552994.ece
  6. Guys, calm down... The proverb, "one man's meat is another man's poison" springs to mind. Cars are very emotive subjects, and if I'd shelled out the thick end of £25k on a car, I'd want it to be near perfect as well. But (and I've said this before), all cars are built on the basis of compromise. I'm still delighted with my IS220d. I know people bitch like crazy over the fuel economy, but frankly, it wasn't an issue for me. If it's at the top of your list, don't buy this car. If you want all out performance, don't buy this car, if you want driving involvement, don't buy this car. But, if you want a decent all round performer that you can drive for over 500 miles in one sitting, as I have (okay, I had to do a splash and dash), buy this car. Finally, Jamboo's "survey" is a very small selection of people who were bothered enough to (a) register on the LOC forum and then (B) fill in the survey. Therefore, as someone else said, not truly representative of the average Lexus driver.
  7. Yeah gotta agree with that, although to me it seemed as though the test ended really abruptly, kinda faded out as though there was more to the test but they cut it short.......... I watched the review last night, just fast forwarded through all the rubbish beforehand and was singularly unimpressed with Tiff's piece. It was so wishy-washy, no real judgement, just a continuous moan about the beeping. The problem with all of these "shows" is that they always drive the car on the limit and I doubt something like the IS-F will ever be driven like that. It's not a track-day car for god's sake, it's a performance saloon. At least Jezza will have an opinion if and when he tests it for TG. The only good thing about 5th gear was VBH, but she looks like she's starting to let herself go a bit as well...
  8. This is a well known problem with all manufacturers who use keyless entry. Had a colleague with a Subaru who, every time he parked at the chippy near where we worked, couldn't get into his car with the fob and, once inside it wouldn't start. Had to push it about 30 yards down the road and then it would start. Eventually (DOH) he realised that behind the shops was a mobile phone mast and it was this that was interfering with the electronics of his car. The advent of wi-fi has just compounded the problem of EMI.
  9. Just returned from a fairly long trip which included driving back from Redruth in Cornwall to Leeds via Heathrow Airport - around 500 miles - it says I achieved 44.6mpg which I don't think is too bad at all.
  10. Had mine done last week - sat down in the waiting area, read a newspaper and flicked through a couple of magazines. Would have taken 45-60mins but had to have a new tyre fitted which added another 30mins or so. All in, I waited just under 2 hours, but my car came back valetted which was a blessing as it was absolutely filthy when I handed it over!
  11. Just phoned to book mine in at Lexus Leeds for its 10k service - £205 all in.
  12. The sensor is on top of the dashboard near to where it meets the windscreen.
  13. I leave my keys in my pocket next to my (2) mobile phones all the time and not had this sort of problem before.
  14. Got to say that the omission of a loose change holder was a mistake - never looked for one when on the test drive (well you wouldn't would you) and not having one wouldn't have made me change my mind. But, it's a real pain in the :tsktsk: when you're at a ticket barrier...
  15. Looking on the positive side it's probably preferable to people buying second homes in the West Country and driving the property prices out of reach for the locals . There are whole villages now that mostly have only weekend habitation. Not sure your average Grockle owner is an aspiring 2nd home owner.
  16. Agree with ihpj - they're like chalk and cheese yet compete for the same "demographic". An "issue" with any forum is that (those with) polar extremes will always post the most. In my case, I'm extremely happy with my car, no problems whatsoever, still delighted to drive it every day and don't regret getting the Lexus over BMW, Merc or Audi.
  17. When I'm at a restaurant enjoying a meal, why is it that the waitress/waiter always asks "are you enjoying your meal" just as you've stuffed a huge forkful of food into your mouth???? Same with the dealer calling me to check if everything is okay... I don't want them to phone me, if there's a problem I'll phone you. Sorry, but that's not an issue IMHO.
  18. I've had my IS220d for 8 months now and over the past 4-5 months have developed a pain in my arm - specifically my left shoulder. It feels a bit like a trapped nerve and is especially painful when reaching behind me to pull on a shirt or coat. I was on holiday for two weeks starting the last week in August and did very little driving - mostly lying on a beach, drinking beer etc. etc., and whilst the pain didn't disappear completely, it was certainly perceptively better. My theory is that it might be caused by the driving position of the Lexus. Reason for this hypothesis is that when I had a Toyota Corolla I developed a sharp stabbing pain in the shoulders which disappeared when I changed cars. Anybody else suffering from something similar or am I pointing the finger of blame at the wrong culprit (though I can't think what else it could be)??
  19. What do you mean , positively cracking the flags today in Leeds, aircon on permanently
  20. I've just had a relatively long period of commuting and am getting low 30's mpg. Still happy with my choice.
  21. I'm sorry, but that looks absolutely s :tsktsk: t. My friends "Parrot" in his Alfa looks more professional than that. The microphone looks like the standard one you get with a Nokia kit. I'm with Rob on this one... don't know what you paid for it, but it was probably too much.
