still wont do it that way u can hear unit clicking but wont change had to rive the connector out and broke it because it was so tight in socket so cant send it back i did try pushing the wires in the grom box but using the carling dock and it switched and worked (display slighty incorrect) but can remember which wires were for control through HU i had it working this morning like that but now forgot and can only get sound and control through ipod itself it is certainly a strange one also the other problems seem solved in car link adaptor was just using grom dox as a switcher to get to external changer just unsure weather to butcher Grom box as i can get refund on that hmmm

Yep sounds like you've had a right pain with the unit, to be honest if I'd read your post first I'd probably not have bought the unit but thankfully mine works fine :) Good luck with the other one, hopefully it works fine. problems with this one 2 im afraid wont turn to external source unit works fine and plays (tried a little cheeky method) so unit fine just dont know how to force unit to turn to external source any ideas any1

got the xcarlink adaptor today fitted the unit looks to work properly but wont switch to external cd mode any ideas how i can force it to switch to external i no the unit work as i used the grom lead and forced the carlink wires through that then removed grom so it does work just wont switch from radio cd ect to external player any ideas

well i no for a fact 2 ppl on here have the 13906 unit and cannot get the grom to work Grom dont no what the problem is as they said they have no issues but i do have serious issues with mine a couple other cant even get the hu to recognize the grom just hope the xcar link works hopefully it should be with me today and installed so ill let everybody no whats what when it arrives

http://www.xcarlink.co.uk/ spoke to them today over phone and it is compatible with lexus and also all new ipods has the added advantage of the aux jack as standard as well have ordered one as Grom informed me today there is nothing they can do as they dont know of the fault (my symptoms) anyway and to send item back for a full refund i should receive my xcar link tomorrow and all being well i will have it installed tomorrow and will report how good/bad it is

i wouldnt go the grom way with ur 13906 unit mate i got one and it doesnt work properly it cuts out and has a problem with auto lights whereby if light come on auto the unit isnt recognized properly but cutting out is the main issue plus received a updated chip from grom which didnt do jack and now stopped all correspondance wilth me i have had to escalate i disupte trough paypal so just be warned afyer sale service is useless i have found something similar from a uk company which is around £75 a little more than grom but looks the biz with the added advantage of having a jack connection as well as ipod dock

i have posted on their a few days back now i read about the pcb but since then they dont have the curtoursy to get back to me i dont have a clue whats wrong i will be filing for refund through ebay and paypal first thing in the morning so they basically have a day to get back to me (with thier time zone)

a number for grom audio as they have now not replied to my emails for over a week getting my goat now and am very shortly going to be sending a transaction refund through paypal unless i can get hold of them very helpful at first "error with our system wrong chip was sent we'll send u a update" soon as you tell them that dont work thats it no more replies to emails NOTHING rant over lol

i can now also confirm that my girlfriends ipod doesn't work on the adaptor either with the same problems as my itouch is having her ipod is a nano (no the newest one) the one before so this must be a actual unit problem and not ipod related

i no a lot of things are still to be found out about the ipod adaptors and oem hu but it should be stated before purchase that its still in those stages that way a lot more ppl would be understanding if they have a problem right now though i am gettin peeved off because they havent returned any of my emails since they said they sending update you would think they would have the tech dept on it 24/7 trying to help so at the moment i am stuck with a rather expensive (if you include shipping) doorstop!

thing is though this thing cost me over £50 quid and it aint workin so i paying for something that basically is useless and also i mention the update they sent sorted the problem with in not working properly with the lights on auto didnt work lights must have come on after car was started i just wished some1 knew what to do t make it work

getting very pi**ed off now with this same problem keepes cutting out after ten mins or so the update irradicated the problem of not being able to control the ipod through hu when lights came on auto at car startup i have a 13906 hu any1 had any probs with the adaptor and this specific unit? and tips help appriciated tried just about everything bar smashing the f*****g thing

they should fit fine because effectively its the same car with different spec interior so you shouldnt have a problem I think lexus sizes are standard across each range as the new is alloys fit the first gen is fine

im not sure where the cable is but i dont think the radio has a code in the is200 i have disconected mine a few times and its not asked for a code it just resets and you will lose your pre-sets

It seems that I received a wrong microchip. Dimitri (from grom audio) said that he will send me another chip. I hope that it will be the good one this time! not had chance to see if mine works since i received the new chip, im guessing mine too wont work, will have a bash tomorrow. let us no how you get on with it mine seems to work for a while the stops recognizing the adapter and goes back to the radio and only way i can get it back on is to restart the car the sometimes it wont let me control the unit from the HU

they aresending me a new unit well apparantly this is what was said by grom: Hi,There was a glitch in our system and wrong firmware was burned.We will send the right chip to you tomorrow,My apologies for the issue,Dmitry/ but would still like to knw whats wrong with the one i have and if it is fixable u never no whenyou may need one ill have a look around the box and feel if anywhere is getting hot and ill get a picture of tthe inards of the unit taken and post up

No , do you have to do that before you switch it to CD ? yes you need to press load to put cd in player which in turn will find an available place in changer to put it depending if its a early model it may have a green ight appear when its ready to load disk but older models only have the amber light

yeah more or less give or take a few mins here or the would that also cause malfunction u say voltage regulator is that on the adapter or car side of things is it easily fixable etc?

let us know the outcome and price they quote as a lot of members have managed to mess it up the same and not got it fixed
