  1. Ants944 is correct. I've seen this negative effect added to a bike plate following a blanked-out flash going through a GATSO camera. Took about 2 seconds to identify the number. Technically there would be an offence of 'obstructing police in the execution of their duty', but this particular geezer was just potted for speeding. Don't think I would take the risk of trying these plates out myself, then again I'm not into bungie-jumping or freefall-parachuting. I'll leave this one with you...........
  2. My remote battery went flat on me (bit lazy, got away with standing right next to it for a while when it was on the way out, then whoops! woke all the neighbours up at 6.30am) Chucked brand new one in when I got to work, but then wouldn't work at all. The second key fob when I got home also wouldn't work, so the code cycle thing had obviously kicked in. I would be wary should you decide to swap it yourself. It's easy enough to do, but I believe from my experience there must be a time limit. Still not got round to sorting.
  3. Yeah, as Matt says, should be clear. Just had mine 'gassed-up' today by a mate who is in the air-conditioning game. The viewing window is (on GS anyway) on the High pressure side of the circuit, indicated by an 'H' on the valve. This is where the window is, and is situated near the radiator. The top-up valve is on the Low pressure side, indicated by an 'L'. My fluid in mine was green, which indicated that a substance had been added to find a leak, and therefore the fact that I needed it gassing-up (if it wasn't already obvious) was because of that. He did say that as it had taken 6 months to require a re-charge, it was probably easier/cheaper to just top it up once a year. Could see bubbles as the air-con was circulating, during the gassing-up, which eventually went clear/steady when done. Only took 5 minutes, and a tenner for a few beers.
  4. I used to be able to play the piano by ear, but kept banging my nose on the black keys. :yack:
  5. Mine must be sneaking up to about 110,000 now. Runs like new. The cam belt will be due (if not already sorted) at 120,000 if I'm not mistaken..............
  6. This seems to be motorway cctv footage of the M60, Eccles area, round about 7.30am, I'm sure of it...............................
  7. Thanks mate. Hope it goes o.k. Post some piccies when it's done. P.S. spend your £450 on something nice.................
  8. Sorry guys, I've been working away for a few days. I've used this grille before, from B&Q, about £15 a sheet. It isn't stainless though, and will rust if not treated properly. It looks pretty good silver, but you would need to at least give it a good lacquer or paint it. I made a bracket for the bonnet release out of an old metal m/bike numberplate................. Draw round your old grille over the mesh with a felt pen, cut out with a pair of tin-snips and bob's your uncle. I used thin, black plastic ties at each corner, through the existing bolt holes on the chrome surround. Tidied up the rest of the fit with a few blobs of strategically placed araldite. The only thing that needs tidying up is the Lexus badge. I wrapped this with a continuous length of black insulation tape to lose the grooves on it. As you pull it tight it will stretch to the exact thicknes of the badge edge. This now sits a bit too proud on the grille (there are two screw holes already in the badge that will re-screw from the back of the new grille) Ideally, I could do with another badge to cut down and mess with. The whole thing on mine can be reversed to original spec., and I don't want to mess about with the badge until I'm happy that this is going to be permanent. Hope this sheds a bit more light on the subject for you......... Steve J
  9. " I'm sorry for speeding officer, but this isn't how I'm normally asked to take down my particulars? "
  10. Hammerite smooth, £5 tin will murder it ( I used same tin on my last motor )
  11. Sorted my front grille out on the cheap, using easily available parts from well known DIY retailler............................................. Stands me at about £40. Not an exact replica, but near enough, done in an afternoon, and totally retrofitted back to original if not happy......................
  12. :D :D :D :D :D :D nice one boys, keep it up!!

Agree with MichaelB on this one. Saw JC reviewing a Z3 2.8 BMW about 12-18mths ago on the program (I'm not too well up on Beemers, but I think that's what it was- the James Bond type thing) After figure-of-eight wheel spinning/doughnutting etc., and generally ragging the backside off the car, he absolutely raved about it. About a fortnight ago, he was 'reviewing' the newer version (Z4??) and slated it, saying it was as bad as the Z3. Hmmm, does he actually remember driving and 'reviewing' it? Think he just comes out with any old sh!te to sound good/impress his boss, without actually listening to what he's saying himself.
  14. did he have a Green Door? I've met Micheal Jackson David Jason All the members of Take That before they were super famous most of last years/this years Leeds United team. Andy Craine Violet Berlin Shigeru Myamoto No, silly, that was his 'ole house
  15. I was in the Vauxhall Performance Car Club for quite a few years. At meetings, the club flags etc. were mounted on poles, with a flat base that you then drove one of the cars front wheels on to keep it up. Don't know where they originated from, but seemed a reasonably simple engineering task to custom make. They came apart in sections so as to fold away into a car boot. Don't know if this helps you any...............
  16. The back street garage sold me this because me big hen's gone.
  17. I seem to remember my grandad talking about that series once....................
  18. BMW owner fined for driving in a bust lane..........
  19. Baz, My GS looked the same (probably worse), Have a look at the calliper painting workshop I did, showing rear drums, before & after. Looks ten times better after a lick of paint. If your only doing the drum, you'll crack both in about an hour. Steve J.
  20. What was the Sweeney driver's on-screen name? Was it something like Frank? I don't ever remember him actually speaking. Seem to remember them using a Ford Consul and later upgrading to a Granada. Baddies always used Jags and Transit vans (which always crashed) "NICK 'IM GEORGE!"
  21. Couple of 3 litre 'S' Capris & RS 2 Escort. Bought myself a 3 litre 'S' about 15 years ago and grew some sideburns. Classic..............
  22. Working great Rich. Have a look in the workshop section, I posted a fly-on-the-wall article detailing bumper removal etc. Hope this is of use. Steve J.
  23. STOP IT, YOU'RE GIVING ME A HEADACHE!!!!!!!
  24. The aeriel on my GS (Mk1) retracts when I have CD player selected. I deselected RDS/TP thingy, so that may be why?
  25. Nice work Steve, now for his avatar.......................................
