That's brilliant info guy's cept that my local Lexus parts crowd said "You want what? Sorry mate. They were discontinued a hundred years ago. But I can fix you up with a new set of "modern" alloys if you want". (I'm in ireland - great Lexus tradition - obviously). Do you know of a Uk parts company who are worth contacting? (when I put Lexus Parts into Google I just get a mimbo jumbo of contacts but no specialists)

Hi Guy's, Some little @*@**#~ stole one of the centre hubs off my original (and immaculate) six spoke alloys. I didn't understand why until I went to get a replacement - it seems they are as rare as hen's teeth. I've been in touch with as many breakers as will entertain a conversation about such a limited interest item - but no one can find me a replacement. (Lexus wern't any help either unless I wanted a whole new set of wheels). I'm sure you all know the style of alloy I'm talking about but I've attached a picture just in case. If any one has a matching hub hanging around (or two or three etc) please PM me. I'll pay a reasonable asking price including postage. Thanks.

And there lies the rub... I owned a 2002 e46 for ten months. On the surface it was good buy but in reality I ended up spending 2K on repairs (big long list both mechanical & electrical) and then lost another 2.5K when I sold it on after it developed an oil leak from around the water pump. As a coincidence I bought the Lex ten months ago. Since then I've paid €300 for a full service & €500 on a set of tires. If I sold it tomorrow I reckon it will have depreciated by about €1500. The only problem this car has had is Err3. Both cars were/are of similar price, age, mileage, condition. Both had a FSH. I know which I won't be buying again. (BTW I love Beemers, have owned many and am planning on an e60 once the Lex gets the chop) So you prefer the lexus so you will be buying a bm next It's true to say that my IS is a much better car than the singular E46 I owned & despite being smaller, it's on a par with my last e39. As there isn't anything better (for the same money) than the E60 523 it will deffo be the BM next. Given the technological differences between the much newer IS and the now very old E36's & E34's you can't compare them. But leaving aside the Naskil and suspension issues (and not forgetting that they're now Chav specials) you could do a lot worse than have a good one of either as your daily drive.

I've seen seat protectors specifically for Isofix seats. Can't remember exactly where I saw them but they are available.

Obvious. Is rare cos the CD player works!

After reading this thread I went and checked my three month old Goodyear 205/55's that have covered no more than 2000 miles. Already it's clear that the offside front is wearing on the inner edge. The drivers side seems okay. These miles are short stop start urban driving stuff so no blame can be placed on hard cornering or bad driving style and I check the pressures every week. Looks like I'll be out with the jack in the morning to do some swapping around. Just for the record I paid €125.00 a corner for decent rubber.

Had to get the CD's out to see what they were. Got the Artics, The Kooks, NIN, Arcade Fire and something called DEC 2005 Mix. All in perfect nick. Do you think Lexus will do an out of warranty repair for me?????

My broken but silent CD player decided to come alive a couple of days ago and click like mad every time I started the car so it had to go! The Radio/Tape still work and the LED readout searches for the CD's as if the player is still there. (Doesn't find anything obviously).

I've had the lex about 7weeks now and am deffo getting close to 40mpg with mixed driving and that's despite the fact it's due a service. Thats almost twice what my BMW 520 returned. Happy days!

Just had my first decent spin in the Lex. €6.00 a gallon. 200 mile round trip. Cost of petrol approx €30.00. That's nearly 40MPG!

Having traded from a 520i with Dunlop Sports 225's to the IS with 205 Yokohama low profile's I feel the ride is a bit too harsh for the car. Plan to replace them with something similar to the Beemer when the time comes. They'll filll the arches better too. Other than that, having loads of power in the top range coupled with a smooth box, I reckon the IS as good as the 5 series (e39) and better than the equivalent 3 series (e46).

On the same type of subject. Is there a way of getting the indicators to click/beep/holler when engaged? Mine are soooooo quiet you'd swear the car thought there was a baby sleeping.

As has been discussed many times, my bottom loading CD player is kaput. I'm not interested in fixing it as we live in an i-Pod world, but I'd like to get the CD's out and see what they are. I've tried the re-set fuse thing and prodded the slot, held both buttons etc but to no avail. Anybody got any other suggestions?

Picked up the IS200 this evening and am pretty pleased with it. I've just discovered that, despite being told otherwise, it's Chenille spec. Anybody know how this differs from regular S spec?

Whatttt? Don't mess with my head! Of course you can go back in time in one. I saw it on a three part Saturday afternoon documentary last Christmas. Think it had that boy band McFly in it.
