  1. Does anyone know what company made/supplied the original discs/pads for the IS200? I know there are plenty of other options around, but the originals are plenty good enough (just not as cheap!). (i.e. KYB make the orig shocks, so who does the discs?).
  2. does it work when you park it in other locations? Sometimes can be down to interference with pizza delivery places and mini cab offices etc. Have sometimes had it in particular areas but if car unlocks normally when you park it elsewhere then thats usually why.
  3. have you checked to see if its not the pulley wheel itself thats bent instead of the shaft? WHen its running, look at the pulley from the top and see if it runs out. Then look at the end of the shaft and see if there is any wobble on it. If not then would indicate that it is fairly straight and wobble is coming from elsewhere. Just a thought.
  4. Do lexus use a 41.6KHz J1850 PWM or 10.4KHz J1850 VPW interface? ----its ok, I think it uses IS0 9141 interface. Which the ELM327 supports.
  5. aztecbandit1 - did you make your own OBDII sensor then using that ELM327 IC? Looking at it, am thinking of doing so as the datasheet for that device looks simple enough. As long as you can get hold of the software to interpret the data coming from it....
  6. ormi - sorry off topic, but can you get/post Lexus parts too (obviously small bits and not massive bits like a gearbox!!). I know Chris S used to but he doesn't work for Lexus any more. :-( Plus do we get LOC discount too from your dealer?
  7. where the manual states DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) reader, is that the same as and ODBII reader? There are some codes on the DTC table in the manual which show check codes for the ABS/speed sensors? Tis under Diagnostics, section DI-251
  8. I spoke to the guy at ABM when I had my service done and apparently it happens more on the 1999 to 2003 cars. Not sure if they changed the design of the idler a bit since then??
  9. On most cars you can test the ABS sensor itself (lexus call it a speed sensor) with a standard multi meter. Usually they go open circuit when they are knackered. Just get under car and find it on wheel hub, then unplug and put a meter across terminals. For the rear I think the cables from the sensor are longer and connect under the rear seat.
  10. OK cheers Mat. If they wanted people to change the whole caliper, then they wouldn't provide an overhaul kit. As long as you are competant at doing it then there should be no problems. Same with any work you do on anything. Its not exactly a complicated system - I understand its safety critical though which is why you have to use a bit of nouce. ^_^
  11. I understand you can get a caliper rebuild kit/overhaul kit from Lexus with new piston seals, boots and set rings for all 4 pistons (left and right side). I called Lexus and its £63.46. My question is, can you buy these parts seperately and how come a few rings/seals are so expensive? Anyone know?
  12. They all tick fairly loudly!! Hydaulic taps don't need adjusting - but they can fail, but then you would hear a much louder tap!!
  13. Well, if anyone would know, Mat would - what he hasn't done to an IS etc is not worth doing!! :-) I may be wrong, but wasn't Prolex setup by some guys from this site a few years ago??
  14. wish they would call me up and offer oil or brake fluid change! Come on Reading!!
  15. umm. Sort of thinking (as garage had said piston was a bit corroded and possibly pitted) that if doing the seals, then may as well just put a new piston in too. For the sake of £20!!
  16. I think I have both!! With a sticky piston, do you have to fully remove it to free/clean etc or can you do it with it in? Am trying to avoid having to blead the brakes!
  17. dont think they had that one in stock!! bummer. Still, can get the castrol one. Doesn't it need to be a high temp. grease rather than just general purpose? Cheers lads.
  18. ahhh, now that might be what the LM stands for on the Castrol tin - Lithium Molly!! Nice.
  19. In the service manual it says to grease the sliding pins etc with Lithium Soap Base Glycol Grease. Can anyone suggest where to buy this and typical costs? I went to local Halfords (sad I know) but they only had Comma bearing grease and a couple of Castrol greases which had no info on them!! Or, would Toyota sell this? - prob at mega bucks though. Thanks
  20. Has anyone in the Basingstoke area got any spring compressors that want to lend me - saves the £14 for a new set!!
  21. are these the right ones - as standard Lexus ones? KYB make the Lexus ones so should be cheaper to just buy them from anywhere than from Lexus. https://sslrelay.com/buypartsby.co.uk/gas-s...hp?recordID=130
  22. yeah they would have at least road tested it - if they did that, came back with light on for oil and then thought, woah, ooops, will top it up so no one will know!!!!!!! Sign up to Which? Legal Services for around a tenner and see what their legal team says - being Which, they have some clout in the name/bad publicity etc!!
  23. give the dealer a call and see if they have any record of it. It was revised down a tad from original manual due to something like the idler gear was wearing and causing the belt to move slightly, fraying the edges a bit. I just have mine checked as mainly mileage will wear it rather than age - obviously age will have a factor due to the rubber compound degrading.
  24. give it a squirt and if it quietens down you could just replace the UV joint - I remember doing this on my wifes fiesta a few years back. Just squirt one place at a time though, so you know which bit it could be!
