  1. Exide used to do really good batteries. Punch packer I think, dunno if they still do that one.
  2. I leave the air conn on all the time with dial on auto. When winter and snowy I put dial for blow direction to windscreen - which then puts fans on fully automatically, then go round scraping!! Do front windscreen last and by the time you have gone round, its loosened up a little and is easier to scrape!
  3. Just a thought, but if its ok when you turn the brightness control down a little, but its not good when on full - could it be the little potentiometer that controls the brightness - i.e. whats behind this knob? Sometimes the wiper section on them corrode a little if they remain in the same place forever.
  4. The little heater strips on the bottom of the windscreen are to defrost the wiper blade area when its cold/icey/snowing. Depending on your model year, they are either always on, or come on when you switch the air director dial to windscreen. Or thats what I remember from a long time ago - correct me if I'm wrong. BTW - my new Pilkington windscreen also has these that go up the sides a little - will have to wait til winter to see if they work though!
  5. excellent, you are a star - fingers double crossed.
  6. Excellent news. All looking good then. As Wozza says, a list would be good. I bet there are loads of people in that area who would welcome a decently priced trustworthy specialist. Lets hope we can work some sort of Gold discount too.
  7. Called up Autoglass and they are sorting it. Window should be heated/tinted and I am presuming will have the sun strip by the rear view mirror. Does anyone know if the glass is treated in anyway on the IS? I know some screens are on some manufacturers cars? Also, is the tint green or blue - cannot remember!! :-)
  8. cheers guys. Seems like I should be ok. I wasn't going fast at all, but the council lorry infront was - therefore I think they have some liability. Will try and see anyway.
  9. wicked news, cheers. Was there any word back from ABM at all?
  10. Our local council has decided to resurface some of the roads in our area and seem to be doing this by just throwing stones on the road (I guess they put something down first though!) and lettign the cars compact it in! The upshot of that is that I now have a crack in my windscreen due to a flying stone!! So, I know its just a simple process of calling up insurance/autoglass etc, but, is there anything I should look out for when having screen replaced? Will the replacement screen have the sun blocking strip thingy near the rear view mirror for example? I am presuming that it will definately have the heated strip on the bottom. Any tales of woe? Does anyone know if I get a choice between autoglass and RAC windsreen - does it make any difference at all??
  11. ABM sound like a good bet then. Nevarthur - if you don't mind me asking, how much did you end up paying in total? Did you need cambelt changing? This is mainly what I need to have done, so would be nice to know roughly what I am in for!
  12. I use either Headley Tyres - 01635 268384 or Micheldever Tyres - 01962 774437. Never found anyone locally cheaper including fitting, even from Web. As DJ Wozza said, make sure you get the Lexus ones. They are made in Japan (is a way of telling if the are or not), rather than Germany. Non lexus versions are NOT recommended for IS200.
  13. Cheaper than Lexus thats for sure! I have been looking for a Lexus specialist also and saw them. Let me know what they are like? I have SP9000 L's and like them. Old tyre now but not sure if Dunlop still do them? A lot of people seem to use the Goodyear F1's etc also.
  14. From memory, going back a couple of years there was a lot of posts on this. An amount of judder is a characteristic of the IS200 due to the dual mass flywheel. As someone said, the cluch etc has shock absorber to take this up a little. But, I remember people getting clutches and flywheels changed (the pair) under warrenty. Maybe dealers did it easier when the cars where more current. Now they have new IS series, they probably won;t care so much, or Lexus GB won't! Tell the dealer (no.1 who agreed to change clutch) that you want both clutch and flywheel changed.
  15. OK, ta, regarding manual, where is best place to get one - I saw you post a piccy in another post which looked OK. Was that from lexus tech page?
  16. Slightly off topic (sorry) but Rob - nice image you posted. Where does that come from? IS200 service CD or something? I know there is the lexus tech website, is it easy to order service CD from them, and if so, is it any good and are there many different ones or just one covering it all??
  17. Cheers, my parents only live down the road so would be nice and easy to get to. Don't suppose they could be approached to provide a GOLD memebers discount scheme? Not sure who on LOC now deals with this?? Ideas?
  18. Can anyone tell me the correct Mintex part numbers for the front and rear pads and discs?
  19. Anyone know of any good Lexus specialists in the S/SE region? Or, has anyone used any of the below and could recommend them? Thanks Discounted toyota specialists Albin B Motors Westfield Motors
  20. Do you need to lock the camshaft off to stop it turing and throwing timing out?
  21. Out of interest, are you guys using the Mintex pads with standard discs? Do you find them OK with that setup? No real reason for asking other than at some point I shall have to replace discs and pads and wondered what people thought?
  22. Scorps01 - Where abouts in Surrey did you get yours done? BTW - have you a black IS? The other thing that makes me slightly nervous about getting it done elsewhere, is that the know all the ins and outs of the car enough to change what needs to be changed and do a good job!! Mind you, its not that complete so can't be the hard. Does anyone know how much all the parts are from Lexus?
  23. when did lexus change it then? Was this published anywhere? I know what people mean by risk etc and obviously it will cost a huge amount if it did go wrong. ...Right, just got off the phone with Lexus Hanley. According to the service guy (possibly Brian??), Lexus HAVE NOT revised the mileage down from 100k for the IS200. What they have done, as there were some instances of failing tensioners causing the belt to wear, is to instigate a check at 60k miles to check the tensioner and possibly replace under warrenty (as they have extended the warrenty on the tensioner). Therefore, according the Hanley, the cambelt is 100k or 10yrs. I was told they wear more due to use than age - bear in mind that although they are rubber I think they are corded so not just simple perishable rubber. Chris/Mat - if you read this could you please comment or confirm the above? I think I might give Lexus GB a call anyway, just to double check.
  24. You can get 215's with rim protectors on. Will help only a little though (as I found out!!) but is better than nothing. If you can still get them and go for the dunlop SP9000 Sports - make sure you get the LEXUS versions - marked as MADE IN JAPAN, NOT made in GERMANY, as they are a different tyre all together. There is something posted before about this, maybe in the knowledge base, but basically the side walls are stiffer. Dunlop do not recommend the standard ones for the IS200. Ruins the handling apparently. Think the tyre compund is also a little different.
