  1. quick question regarding the mintex pads - on the website it shows a small clip on the edge/back of the pad - do this normal Lexus pads have these too - or can/should they be removed from the Mintex ones? Also, can I confirm the correct pads from Mintex are MDB1708's?
  2. currently its £79 if you pay direct debit and they will give you 15 months. You are right, its with the RAC, but if you go to the RAC website you cannot get the cover they offer for that price, its well over £100!
  3. Did you say she worked at your work? Can you not speak to her directly, maybe she just got the old insurance company and forgot she changed? Either way, she might be ok, if not then report her to hell and back!
  4. Hammerite'd mine and been OK. Whats the issue with flammability?
  5. I have had the Lexus roadside assist for the past few years, cos for the full cover for 2 cars it seems to be the cheapest (not that I have used it!!). What do others think about it? Had a quick look around and it seems to cover 2 cars with homestart its not actually bad value. Even the CSMA Britannia Rescue cover for 2 cars is more expensive.
  6. umm, rare though, can you remember what channel/program? Sometimes the BBC will transmit very good bit rates on terrestrial and sky drop them down on their network, so thats sometimes why. Sometimes sky can look a bit blurry in a way or the grainyness of freeview can appear to give better resolution or detail when infact it isn't! At the viewing distance though you should not see an issue so much, which is how they can get away with it. Worst is/was football on ITV. Huge amounts of maroblocking and mosquito noise etc. Trying to make out a round ball was hard!!! hehe
  7. When a dustbin lorry hit mine I dealt direct with their insurance company then when it was all sorted, I just informed my insurance of a non fault claim, all costs recovered from 3rd party insurance. They initially said I should have contacted them etc etc and they would have done it, but thought the less work they have to do the less they will bump up my insurance next year! Seemed to work too. As they have already said, will go down as a non fault fully recovered 3rd party claim.
  8. I have had similar dilema's too. Currently still thinking the car is really nice and am keeping it. After all, you could change it for some euro shed but the constant repair bills will add up to far more than the higher fuel bills you now pay. Plus, they are not worth so much, so you could sell it but would then have to put more money up to get something else. Overall, its cheaper to keep it. But, saying that, its no use whatsoever for a 6ft3'r so run with 2 young kids/babies. So thats probably when I will have to get rid of it - a sad day that will be. Probably by a classic 205 gti then though - nice.
  9. I went black with silver decals - though have some chrome ones which I have yet to put on!! (only had them about 4 years!!) hehe I would not do gold personally as looks a bit bling! :P
  10. was just thinking if someone is not so careful or is unlucky?? :-) I thought they were a bit delicate?
  11. Stevie - I thought some of them were Nakamichi - maybe early ones? Or are they all Fujitsu Ten?
  12. If top loader then easy to get discs out etc and sort it out. could just be that one of the discs isn't seated properly.
  13. Personally I would go for the Denso ones. Any for me, the original long life ones Save the hassle (albeit small) of swopping them and risking damagin the coil packs. Performance difference will be negligable anyway.
  14. Sorry to hear about your woes. Thats a bummer. With the old engine, you gonna open it up and see whats what once out? It its a valve or something, you could fix that and sell the engine and get some money back?
  15. Bit rates on cable will probably be higher. Similar with Sky. Thats usually why Sky looks better than Freeview on the same channel, as with terrestrial they cannot use the same higher bitrates across the board as they don't have the bandwidth.
  16. errr, I thought it was the petrol vapour that was the flammable bit!! Thats why its dangerous.
  17. all IS's have both. Keeps the cost down for not having to make different models. Not 100% sure about he S though.
  18. does the end bit look like it was broken away or burnt away? Could be the latter in which case you might not have to worry so much about damaged bore etc? if you know anyone with an endoscope then you could look down no.2 bore and see what it looks like with that? Rare I know, but some garages or people might have one!! :-)
  19. Maybe one of the air filters is blocked a bit? Could try running both without for a drag - wouldn't leave it off for ever though incase a stone gets in!! How about petrol, you both fill up at same places?? As people say, reset the ECU and go from there. Think you have to leave it out for a bit though to reset it? Maybe even past driving styles has an effect on general engine tightness/wear. Did they add VSC durnig those years too, so maybe engine management etc is slightly different.
  20. See here, it might show a little more info. http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbchd/ I know they used to show both, though I think all programmes are upscaled to 1080i even if SD content. Usually the evening programmes are all HD though, especially the big named programmes such as Bleak House, Robin Hood etc etc. I will ask a few people here as they speak regularly with the BBC about this service and know a lot more. But, I had heard that they were showing more HD content all the time, especially at peak times. They used to have a schedule guide that told you if the programme was HD or upscaled SD!! Remember though, peak time programmes on standard BBC1 in SD will have higher bitrates anyway, so the leap to HD will not be so high! Though you will still notice the difference.
  21. Nice one, glad to hear you got it all sorted. Enjoy BBC HD - it does look good, though a little grainy in my opinion!
  22. Wonder if it could have had anything to do with as Just turned the car on and not warmed up, then auto choke would have been out? Revs therefore higher than usual - can that have a similar affect, as "engine" trying to drive car forward with a bit more oooomph than normal? Might be worth trying it again from cold. Drive down the road then leap on the peddle.
