  1. Car should give you many more miles of reliable service. You might have a problem with the fish going off, though!!! JBP
  2. Didn't realise you were that young, John, but you've obviously been round the clock a couple of times!!!
  3. Just returned from another 1500 mile trip to France and back. E10 petrol all the way again. This time brim to brim mileage was 40.75MPG and we weren't driving like Miss Daisy all the time!
  4. T94 I think. Here's the link to the product. https://www.saundersaccessories.com/stockists/product-finder/?Manufacturer=20&Model=298
  5. Bought one from Saunders. Attached file is fitting instructions etc. It was a generic one but adjustable to fit and served very well in our Gen4 RX. Now doing service in our daughter's Rav4. Hope this helps JBP img032.pdf
  6. I sent an email to Michelin asking if Cross Climates are available in 235/55/20 size to fit Lexus RX450h F Sport. Here is the reply. Thank you for contacting MICHELIN! I regret to confirm that the MICHELIN CROSSCLIMATE 2 is not available in the mentioned size (235/55/20 ) for your vehilce (sic) and we do not have any estimated date of release either unfortunately. We will reply to you in 2 working days at least. For additional information please contact us by email: contact@tc.michelin.eu, on our website http://www.michelin.co.uk/, our contact formhttp://www.michelin.co.uk/contact or by phone to 08000318802 or 0845 366 1590. MICHELIN is happy to accompany you on every journey and would like to thank you for the confidence. So they are not actually happy enough to accompany us on our journeys. Perhaps it is time for all us Lexus owners to bombard them with requests for Cross climates in our size as they are missing out on a potential market. JBP
  7. Whoops!! I meant Was it particularly windy when you drove it today?
  8. Just a thought. Was it particularly winy when you drove it today? These cars (as are any tall vehicles) are quite susceptible to cross winds.
  9. Absolutely normal to see worse fuel consumption in colder weather as per the comments above. Also wind direction can have a huge effect. We regularly drive 400 miles down through France and back and the route we take is almost due north/south. If the prevailing wind is behind us we easily get 40MPG but if it is a head wind this can drop to the low 30's. Driving on wet roads also increases fuel consumption which makes sense if you think about how much energy you would use if you had to sweep all that water out of the way in front of the tyres! JBP
  10. ISC = Idle Speed Control file:///C:/Users/Gill&%20John/Downloads/apmokymas_ISC_Learning_Procedure.pdf JBP
  11. Hi Rob Just found this from when we had a 400h Hope it answers your question. JBP Lexus has a TSB regarding the ISC learning procedure. Supposedly the idle speed will be off if this is not done after the battery goes dead or is disconnected. Apparently, mileage may suffer if this is not done. ___________________________________ Here's the TSB - EG010_05.pdf ( 30.77K ) Number of downloads: 66 The TSB says you need to hook the vehicle up to the Lexus diagnostic tester (which the dealer has and you don't) but I found a post here http://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/f31/400...ification-8126/ that shows it can be done without the tester. The tester is needed to make sure the vehicle is 181 degrees or higher, which you can do by driving it for a decent amount of time with the engine (so no stealth driving to your destination in electric only mode - drive it like you stole it so it heats up). ___________________________________ The instructions are as follows - This applies to the 2006 Highlander Hybrid also. Note that you can probably perform the procedure yourself. The scan tool mentioned in the procedure checks the coolant temperature to make sure it is at full operating temperature and checks the engine loading to make sure the load is sufficient to charge the battery and finally checks the status of the ISC learning parameter. It is not necessary to monitor these parameters if you do the procedure carefully. 1) Make sure the vehicle is fully warmed up. Do the procedure immediately following a long drive that runs the engine (highway speeds are best - not long gliding stealth runs at low speeds with the engine off). This will insure the coolant temp is at FULL operating temperature - it is not necessary to actually measure the coolant temperature if you warm up the engine sufficiently and don't let the engine shut down too long and cool off before doing the procedure. 2) With the vehicle stopped and in drive, press firmly on the brake to keep the vehicle from moving and then step on the accelerator while watching the power meter (to the left of the speedometer). Press down on the accelerator to keep the needle between 1/2 and 3/4 up the scale. You will find that the engine management system will automatically limit the engine load no matter how far you press down on the pedal so the amount you press is not critical as long as it is either 1/2 scale or to the engine's self-limiting load value. Keep the engine loaded for a full 30 seconds but not longer than 40 seconds (this procedure brings the hybrid battery up to a maximum state of charge - if you watch the battery symbol, you willl see it tick up to a "full" display). 3) Shut off the engine and place it in park 4) Wait 5 seconds. 5) Turn the ignition key back on to display "ready" 6) make sure the A/C and heater system controls are set to off 6) Lightly step on the accelerator pedal until the engine starts -then immediately take your foot off the accelerator and let the engine run until it stops by itself. This completes the procedure. _______________________________________ I've done this procedure successfully a few times now (ran my battery dead once, and disconnected another time when trying to reset the NAV system) The only thing I noticed (and it didn't seem to matter) was that I could not get the power meter anywhere near 1/2 to 3/4. No matter how far I depressed the accelerator, the engine management system would not let the power climb even 1/4 way. Everthing else worked as stated though.
  12. Don't know average MPH but just drove normally at or just below the relevant speed limits. Too many speed cameras to catch you otherwise. Longest journey so far on a tankful was Fort William to Milton Keynes via Dumfries earlier this year. 498 miles at 39.9MPG. (Final part was done on a wing and a prayer as the Tesco forecourt we were heading for in Milton Keynes was closed for refurbishment.) JBP
  13. Didn't use toll roads at all, John. It was Calais to just north of Limoges and back. Various bits of dual carriageway/non toll autoroutes at 110KPH and lots of N and D roads with either 80 or 90KPH limits depending on which area you were in at the time. Makes for fun driving spotting the speed limit signs! Most stressful thing was organizing the Covid passes before leaving and Passenger Locator Forms within the two days of returning. Computer kept saying, "No"!!! JBP
  14. Just returned from a trip down through France and back in our 450h Sport using E10 petrol for the whole journey. 1250 miles at an average of 37.5 MPG. JBP
  15. If you mean the cross bars every so often Lidl sell these for about £30 and they are a very good quality item. JBP
  16. The reason I asked was it has been brought to my attention that from 1st November 2021 about half of France will require vehicles to be fitted with winter tyres (M+S or 3 Peak rating) or carry chains or snow socks in the winter months. JBP
  17. Has anybody any idea when Michelin CrossClimate tyres to fit RX450h F sport (235/55/R20) will be available in this country? They appear to be available in America but not here. JBP
  18. We had the same situation when my wife bought a UX250h. Sent an email to Customer Services at Lexus UK and they sent out proper copies of the manuals free of charge. Mind you it did take a couple of weeks for them to arrive. JBP
  19. Yes they did indeed, John but ours was a manual 4-speed with overdrive on 3rd and 4th gears. You could actually pull away in 3rd gear (with a little bit of clutch slip) and then using the overdrive you could get up to 90 to 100 MPH without actually changing gear. Obviously this would only be done on private roads!!! JBP
  20. The question really was is there an easy way to remove these black plastic things? Presumably any water that runs down the channels at the sides runs down behind these plastic bits and drains away. JBP
  21. For many years we had a Reliant Scimitar GTE. On a trip up to a wedding in the Midlands the hydraulics for the clutch failed. Not much we could do as we were in all our best clothes and needed to get to the wedding on time. The way to do it with an old manual car is to turn off the engine, select 1st gear, handbrake off, turn the engine over which causes the car to move forward until the engine fires then away you go. Gear changes are then made by slipping the gear lever into neutral, adjusting engine speed to suit the new road speed then pushing gear lever into next gear. If done correctly you can make very smooth (and silent!) gear changes. The secret is to try to keep the car moving at all times by reading the road ahead and timing junctions and traffic lights so that you do not have to stop. The really interesting part was when we made a wrong turn into a cul de sac and had to do a three point turn. However we made it to the wedding, had a wonderful day and an uneventful journey back home. JBP
