  1. Our family have used them many times over the last few years with several different Lexuss Lexusses Lexi models of Lexus . Always found the staff friendly, polite and accommodating and I feel I have confidence in them to be trustworthy which can't be said for a lot of other dealerships. Prices are reasonable for a Lexus dealer but I have taken out service plans to spread the cost and avoid price increases. Also, they are local which, of course, helps a lot. Yes, I can recommend them. JBP
  2. I once drove from Norwich to Milton Keynes cross country in our 400h using mainly B and unclassified roads and achieved an indicated 44.5 MPG. Mind you that was driving as economically as possible and certainly not pressing on. It also took rather a long time! 30 to 35 MPG is probably reasonably achievable if your journeys are not too short. JBP
  3. Ah, silly me! The old grey cells are slowly going. I suppose the fuel flap is too small to climb through. JBP
  4. Not absolutely sure as it is some time since we had a 400h but I seem to remember there is a boot release handle/lever behind a small removable panel inside the car near the nearside wheel arch. BUT I may be wrong! Good luck JBP
  5. Hi All Last year changed up from (some would say down from!) 400h to 450h. Loving it so far. One annoying thing. The doors automatically lock when speed is more than 10MPH. Great. When stopped and in park all doors are still locked but driver's door and front passenger's door can be opened from inside using door handle normally BUT rear doors stay locked and cannot be opened from inside using handles. I have to press the unlock button on the driver's door arm rest to let passengers out. Can be embarrassing when they are adults but OK for children. The child locks are not on. I have looked at the customisable options in the handbook but this does not seem to be covered. Any bright ideas out there? Cheers JBP
  6. The night before last the alarm in my 2009 400h parked outside on the drive started going off after we had gone to bed. I turned it off using the remote on the key by unlocking then relocking from the bedroom window. There was nothing to see that was untoward. About half an hour later the alarm went off again. I again cancelled it from the bedroom window by unlocking and relocking. I then got dressed and went out to investigate. There was nothing apparent around the car so I unlocked it, opened the door and had a good look around inside. Again nothing apparent. Got out, closed and locked the door and went back to bed. Since then nothing. Any ideas? JBP
  7. Yes, but it looks like a left hand drive to me. If it is a USA model that's a very good MPG. Not everything in America is bigger than in the UK. Our Gallons are bigger than theirs! JBP
  8. Hi I did some "miles to empty" calculations some time ago. See http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/60019-miles-to-empty/ But as I said before "Don't take my word for it"!!! JBP
  9. If you are having a towbar fitted by an indy or doing it yourself it's worth checking the clearance for the spare wheel. See my post on http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/83063-things-to-check/?hl=towbar#entry827736 !!!!! JBP
  10. Hi Ronnaybarkay See my post of 06/07/13 re towbar. Might be worth checking yours especially if it was not done by a Lexus dealer. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/83063-things-to-check/ JBP
  11. Hi Nelmo I am currently on my 3rd 400h and must say they have been everything I could have wished for - luxurious, extremely comfortable on long journeys and super reliable (if you make allowances for the 12V battery problem which caught me out once). The only problems I have had in seven years ownership was a power steering failure ( car was still driveable but with VERY heavy steering) which was fixed efficiently under warranty and an AFS failure (swivelly headlights) again fixed under warranty. However, my current car showed up a peculiar problem when it was serviced after my first year of ownership. I received a phone call from the service department to say that everything was fine except they could not check the spare tyre as the towbar was preventing it from being lowered. The assumption was that the previous owner had had it fitted by a "towbar specialist" but they had not forseen this problem. I had bought the car from Lexus Leicester but as I live in Milton Keynes and Lexus Milton Keynes had discovered the problem during the service they liased between themselves (they are both part of the same group) and a brand new "Lexus" towbar was fitted free of charge. The moral of this story is, check to see if the correct towbar has been fitted properly or you could be caught out if you suffer a puncture - luckily I didn't! Enjoy your RX JBP
  12. See my post on 27 July 2010 http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/68193-winter-wheelstyres/?hl=jbprx400h#entry727733 The wheel fittings might be different. JBP
  13. Does anyone know what are the differences between RHD headlamp units and LHD headlamp units (both with AFS)? Is there any way of converting RHD to LHD without having to purchase complete new units? Help, please!!! JBP
  14. Thanks DanD & Chris This is not just for a holiday. It will be for a permanent move to the Haute Vienne area. Regards JBP
  15. Has anyone had experience of taking their RX400h from the UK to live permanently in France? What needs to be done? I can only think of headlights. Are they adjustable for driving on the right or will they need replacing. If needing replacing where can I get a pair from? Help, or should I say Au Secours! JBP
  16. My daughter had a problem with our IS200 yesterday. Came home, parked on the drive and had trouble locking the car. Went to go out an hour later, could not unlock the car. Tried to unlock driver's door manually with the key but set off the alarm and door would not open. As the car was under warranty called Lexus who sent out the AA. AA man tried a couple of times and of course the car unlocked and locked perfectly!!! AA man left. Tried car again. Would not unlock. ARRRGH!!! Also tried our RX400h but that would not unlock either. Going back into the house to ring Lexus again when I noticed that the remote control for the house alarm (Response wireless alarm) on my keyring had the LED lit up. One of the buttons was stuck in. Released the button and hey presto everything back to normal. Obvious when you know the answer!!!! Hope that helps if you have a gremlin in your system JBP

  21. Hi Ian Here is a link to some random jottings I made back in 2009. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=60019&hl=&fromsearch=1 But as I said back then "Don't take my word for it"!!! Hope that is of interest. JBP
  22. Or conversely flick the mirror control switch to the right if you want the right mirror to dip when you select reverse! JBP
  23. Hi Vitali It might be worth trying the ISC (Idle Speed Control) learning procedure that has been well documented on the USA Lexus forum. http://us.lexusowner...opic=58930&st=0 It worked on our 2006 and our 2008 RX400h. Regards JBP
  24. Hi As far as I know the only warning is the orange light coming on. I don't think it even flashes as a final warning when you are almost running on fumes as it used to in my company Vectra. Just for interest see my random calculations regarding miles to empty at http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=60019&st=0&p=665250&hl=empty&fromsearch=1entry665250 but as I said on there "DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT!!!!!" Happy hybrid motoring! JBP
