  1. Yes Need ARM and two Legs Maybe try one of the Auto breaker search sites. They've always come up trumps with anything I needed.
  2. Nice work mate. I had my side window smashed on my GS three weeks ago for the satnav
  3. My lowered BMW 325 Coupe has out of whack camber due to the lowering. Whenever I got the alignments checked at the dealers the camber readout was always set as "failed due to lowering".
  4. As far as I know in the UK, it is legal to own a device that detects the signals, but illegal to own one that interferes with them, i.e. "confuses" in their speak.
  5. Have you tried a Lexus main dealer?
  6. Not an IS but I have just sorted the same knocking type noise on my GS, same as corsa vandal, it was the slide pins that sorted it on mine.
  7. Just bought a set of wind deflectors for my Mk1 GS300, how do they fix on? I can see I'll need some double sided foam tape. How/what do the two clips fix into and in what position do the deflectors go? i.e. onto the paintwork or onto the black metal frame around the glass? Cheers Rick
  8. I have a set of Saxo VTR alloys in the garden and noticed last week that the centres were solid, I'd never seen that before. Now I know why. I find plants are much prettier :) The wheels are much lower maintenance
  9. Just a quick question, does the solenoid stop power to the starter motor until it is fully extended? With mine, I get the clicks most of the time, other times it will turn over but the cranking slows and stops, as if the battery is flat. Would a dodgy solenoid cause any of these symptoms?
  10. I have a set of Saxo VTR alloys in the garden and noticed last week that the centres were solid, I'd never seen that before. Now I know why.
  11. I have the exact same problem which started last friday. I had the battery checked yesterday found it was not holding charge properly and not giving enough ooomph on cranking. Battery was changed today and the problem is still the same I guess I will be under the car at the weekend looking at the starter/solenoid
  12. The only aftermarket ones for the MK1 GS that I could find on ebay are for left hand drive models :( I have found an online shop in the UK that sells aftermarket ones so I have emailed them to make sure it is for right hand drive models. Not had a reply yet. Just thought if there was a pukka Toyota/Lexus one, it would match out of the box. Might have to give Lexus a call on Monday and see what they say, didn't realise they made any at all until I saw this post.
  13. Is there a genuine one for the MK1 GS300? Cheers Rick
  14. Not sure what I was driving when, but the list of cars over 20 years of driving goes (in order): Ford cortina 1.6 L Mk5 (V reg) Lancia Delta 1500 (Y reg) Vauxhall Firenza (N reg I think) Rover SD1 3500 Auto (T reg) Ford Escort 1600 Ghia Mk2 (R reg) Rover SD1 3500 Auto (T reg) Ford Capri 3000 Ghia MK2 (R reg) Ford Capri 2.8 Injection (X reg) Rover SD1 3500 Auto (X reg) Lancia Prisma 1600 LX (D reg) Rover SD1 3500 Vitesse (B reg) Citroen BX GTI 16 Valve (F reg) Rover SD1 Vitesse (B reg) Ford Capri 2.8 injection (Y reg) Rover 827 si (ex met police car) (M reg) Renault Laguna (company car) (P Reg) Saab 900 (company car) (P reg) BMW 325 Coupe (K reg) (current car) Lexus GS300 Sport (P reg) (current car)
  15. The day before yesterday I start getting a strange problem with my '96 GS300 Sport. Insert the key, wait for the steering wheel to assume its position, turn the key and just get a single click, no turning over. So I though s**t, flat battery. All dash lights come on as they should. Turn the key again, same thing. Take key out, put it back in and turn and the car starts up fine. Everytime I try and start her up now I have to go through various turn on/off and key removal routines. It does the same thing with both keys. Any ideas? Keys/imobiliser problem, ignition switch, battery?
  16. Good news that it is all sorted. Can't say I can figure out why changing one side stopped the noise on the other side mind you. But as long as it is all good, it don't really matter
  17. it was originally the passaenger side rear 1 making noise, now the rear drivers side one is doing the same noise on and off, do u know anyone who sells used mk2 gs parts at all, im not 100% but i may need a caliper and they are 254+vat each from lexus in london. i noticed another thing i started pumping the brake peddle today after you mentioned the caliper may be sticking and after 5 pumps of the peddle i heard a beep i looked at the dash board and 5 lights cameon hnd brake light, vsc, abs when i put the car in drive they all went off, i pumped peddle again and same thing happened. i cant beleave whats going on all i did was get the pads changed the car was 100% perfect before this happened You could try one of the part finder type sites that have networks of car breakers. I've used http://www.breakerlink.com and http://www.find-a-part.com , Not entirely sure who it was that got me the part in the end but I think it was breakerlink. Had a call back within about 30 minutes. I got all 4 calliper mounts with slide pins (not the callipers themselves) for £70 delivered. Pretty good deal as the slide pins alone would've cost more than that from Lexus. That stopped the clunking at low speeds on lumpy roads and I freed the binding calliper with lithium soap glycol based grease (kept retracting the calliper and then pressing the brake back out until it was moving freely again). You could try that first before shelling out on a calliper. No idea I'm afraid on the whole pedal and warning light thing.
  18. Must admit, would be interesting to see if it cures the problem. I can see that cheap pads could make ghastly noises when breaking (I made the mistake of putting cheapo ones on my BMW 325 coupe, they squealed like a stuck pig as soon as I touched the brakes). I can't see how cheap pads would make a noise if the car is just moving and not braking. Unless the little guide clips and and anti rattle/squeal clips were left off, then they may be loose enough to catch the discs.
  19. Are the callipers running smoothly? I've just fixed a noise in reverse from the back brakes (Mk1 GS300) due to the calliper not retracting slightly so the brakes were binding.
  20. If the LS is similar to the GS, then the sub is hung under the rear shelf. The bulk of the space behind the seats is the petrol tank.
  21. I had the exact same thing happen on my BMW '92 325 Coupe. Some how rain water was getting past the cover over the plugs and filling up the plug well on two cylinders. The engine ran like a bag of spanners 'til I found it. Sucked the water out and dried off the coils (seperate coil on each plug, no HT leads) and the car ran perfect. Each time it started miss-firing I'd repeat the procedure and the car was fine.
  22. It is purely a cost thing for me, I don't have that amount of loot in one hit for coilovers. If I had to do shocks every few years the cost would at least be spread out. Unless someone has a cheap, or at least cheap'ish set of coilovers going?
  23. Wouldn't hids in your fogs be illegal? I though all hids (upgrade kits like on ebay) are not road legal even in low beams unless your car has the self levellers for the low beams. No matter what car you had, the fogs would not have self levellers I'm guessing, so could never be road legal. They would just be a downright menace assuming you are wanting them blue so you can just cruise around in perfect weather conditions with them on.
