  1. No specific help but as long as it meets the API GL5 standard and is LSD oil then it should be fine, whatever the brand.
  2. How does everyone find the range of their remote control, more specifically on the MK1 GS but maybe all models are the same? Mine drives me nuts, it only seems to work from about a foot away from the car. If I am round the back end of the car it won't work. I'm used to being able to use the remote on the BMW from about 30 yards, is the range on the Lexus one meant to be so pish? The battery in the fob is new as that was my first thought with the poor range.
  3. Depending if it is the sport model with the 10" wide rears, a set of tyres is likely to come to more than £400. The callipers binding seems to be a common thing, caused most often it seems by the slide pins. I have dismantled all of mine and re-greased etc after one of the rears started binding badly. A re-grease of the pins and the piston seals sorted it out easily enough. Other than an intermittently dodgy starter motor (got a spare just need to put it on) I haven't had any significant issues with my GS300 Sport (1996 with 151,000 miles) in the two months and 3000 miles covered since I got it.
  4. Sounds like a fair deal. They are cheaper from the US but of course delivery is slower. Depends how urgent it is I guess.
  5. I had this getting gradually worse for months, it can come and go, in the end a new starter / solenoid from a breakers fixed it for £90 fitted. Yup, did it twice on Saturday and been fine again since. I did get a starter from the breakers the day after the battery didn't cure the problem so it looks like I will need to change it over afterall.
  6. If they are the same as the GS masts, I've just bought a couple off ebay from the states when mine got bent by a low over hanging branch, worked out at about £23 for the pair delivered. Means you have spare ready for the next time too.
  7. I got a full set of dip beam, main beam and side lights xenon bulbs from these guys on ebay. £9.95 + £2.99 delivery for the set. Very good deal and the xenon side light bulbs really make a big difference to the appearance, giving nice white side lights to match the head lamps colour. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/ACEparts-Performance-Lighting Just for reference, Halfords wanted £14.99 if I remember correctly, just for one of the headlamp bulbs!!!
  8. I agree with what has been said so far. A mirror with a mirror is a mirror, a mirror without a mirror is just a casing/housing. Is the place where the mount is broken visible in the picture or on the face down part?
  9. They are linked to how many posts you have done. The more posts, the more blue boxes. There are also set levels of post counts where you change from "advanced member" to "established member" and so on up the member chain.
  10. I would assume that tracking would be part of the geo setup? Toe in/out?
  11. I have quite a few friends in the US that have forwarded stuff on to me before. If you let me know the details I'll try and sort it out for you. Cheers Rick
  12. Nice one. Mine has been perfect all week so wondering if the new battery I had just needed a good charge up in the car for a couple of days.
  13. Sounds like it is working the way I would expect it to work. The driver can have different settings to the passengers. i.e. All occupants other than the driver are passengers, no matter where they are located.
  14. Thanks. When you say "be wise", do you mean getting the geo reset or are there some other pitfalls I should be aware of? Cheers Rick Sorry by wise i do mean have the Geometry re-set... Out of interest are you lowering the car below the stock suspension height? Thanks for that. It should go back down to the level that the Sport model was before the previous owner raised it back up. I believe this is a 25mm drop all round over the standard (non Sport model) height.
  15. Thanks. When you say "be wise", do you mean getting the geo reset or are there some other pitfalls I should be aware of? Cheers Rick
  16. I was very impressed with their service. Logged a request at 12:27 last week and got a call from a breaker in Brum at 12:29, felt like I'd only just pressed the submit button! Item delivered the following day B)
  17. The Mk1 Sport alloys look good on it I must say. Nice motor.
  18. I've read a huge amount of posts regarding geometry setups on the IS200 and WIM rectifiying various issues with the standard setup. My question is wether this is also an issue on the MK1 GS300, and more specifically when it is modded at all? I have a GS300 Sport, unfortunately the previous owner had the springs replaced with non-sport springs due to the entry of his driveway. I will be fitting lowered springs soon once they have arrived from Japan and would like to know if a visit to the Dr is required? Are the GS300 geometry specs suspect as well? Cheers Rick
  19. No idea what year a MkIII LS is but on my MK1 GS a single click of the remote button locks and arms the alarm (quick flash of the indicators), if you click the button again, it disables the interior motion detector (long flash of the indicators). I would assume that even if the button clicks are not the same, there would be a similar feature.
  20. That is the things, they are sold as something else to "pretend" that you do not have an illegal item. If they were legal, they would just sell them as a laser jammer. A garage door opener is a pretty daft thing to pretend about really, as you more than likely would not have the garage door that it opened, which would kinda prove you had it for jamming
  21. Is the rust across the whole face of the disc or just in certain places?
