  1. What LED's are they and where did you get them from? Not seen any that look like that before. Are they white when lit?
  2. I don't get why anyone would email him and tell him anything, there is nothing to say you can't put a fiver on ebay and try and sell it for a tenner. If people don't check prices with the stealers, why should he care? You see it all the time on ebay, just give yourself a pat on the back that you paid less for yours and move on.
  3. They are the standard "Sport" wheels. I think there were a couple of options though, you could either buy 18x8.5" rims all round or you could go for 18x8.5" on the front and 18x10" on the rear. With the 10" wide rear wheels they were fitted with the 275 tyres as standard. Car feels fine with the different widths, I dont think there was any reason for the wider wheels other than cosmetics, unlike cars like BMW M3's etc which was done to cause understeer if it was over cooked rather than oversteer which isn't as easily recovered from. I guess that could be an effect of the smaller/larger tyre split, but I don't tend to throw the GS around as much as I did my 3 series BMW.
  4. In my experience of wheel bearing problems before (had none on the Lexus though) they will make a droaning noise, but never had one that caused shaking. If it has gone that badly to cause shaking, then as suggested you should be able to wobble the wheel all over the place quite easily once jacked up. Infact, I would expect to be able to feel the play if just pushed and pulled the top of the tyre while it was not on a jack too. I would check for dented rim on the wheel as this can cause very evident shaking if bad enough too. A binding brake calliper is also something to check. Mine had a binding calliper on the rear and that caused heavy vibration and noise untill the pad was essentially worn off again to stop it catching. Easy fix without needing to replace the caliper. Also check that the wheel is actually on properly too, sounds stupid but my brother booked his Rover Sterling in for a wheel bearing/CV joint problem only oto be told by the garage that his wheel was loose. I haven't let him live that one down yet As far as fuel consumption goes, it sounds a bit heavy to me. I get between 25 and 29 on mixed driving and not had under 20 with just town driving. It does of course depend how enthusiastic you are with the accelerator though. I have 235/40 18's on the front and 275/35 18's on the rear of my '96 GS300 Sport so the tyres shouldn't be causing you the problem. Maybe just a good service required on it.
  5. I had them on my 325 Coupe, no idea how good they are to be honest as I wasn't going to try and pull them off to try them! I would certainly put them on, just 'cos one scrote has took them this week, doesn't mean a different one won't try taking them at a later date.
  6. Any particular reason why you went for 285 over the standard 275's, are they cheaper? I had the same problem when I fitted Continental Contisport tyres on my BMW, Bridgestone SO3 and Eagle F1 didn't catch the rear arches, the continentals did. I think it is their "feature" to help stop curb scuffing of alloy wheels.
  7. When I get one, I think I'll change the daft wing mirrors for some of those pukkalicious chrome M3 replica ones off ebay, even they don't look as naff as the lambo ones
  8. Have you enabled the Aux inputs? If they are not enabled in the "settings" on the head unit, they will not appear as a source option when plugged in.
  9. I know in drag racing they get something called "Hydraulicing" (or something like that) where unburnt fuel ends up filling up the compression chamber above the piston to the point that the piston cannot fit anymore at the top of the stroke, with pretty catastrophic effects of pistons and con rods breaking out all over the shop. Don't know how easy something like that could happen in a standard'ish car though.
  10. Have you tried selecting Aux1 on the head unit? or is that not given as an option?
  11. Was the cable you use a stereo cable? ie. with three sections on each plug, or just two (a mono cable)? The input should come up on Aux1 as the source on the player. Also check you haven't got the mp3 player volume too high if it is the headphone out socket it is using. Other than that, the audio buffs on here will have a better idea than me.
  12. Got mine from this guy on ebay http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZallgoods99 Not as cheap as from the US but arrived the next day and no lottery on import Duty.
  13. Can't help on locations and fault codes for the sensors but at 20°c (68°f), the heater coil resistance should be between 11.7 and 14.3 ohms.

  15. My tech manual for my GS300 doesn't specifiy a capacity either. 5 litres should be more than enough to do a complete change with some flushing too.
  16. These days the hydraulic clutch and brake system tend to share the same fluid resevoir. Normally just a low pressure feed straight off the plastic resevoir.
  17. I fitted a set in my MK1 a few weeks ago. What a difference, I went for the Diamond White 6000k bulbs, they look the business. Only problem I had when I fitted mine was that the wires were arse about face on the connector that joined to the existing loom. My heart sank when nothing happened initially. A quick swap round of the wires in the HID kit connector and the job was a good 'un.
  18. Lexus Derby seem to work the same way with their workshop. Plus, if you order parts from Lexus, you have to go over to the toyota showroom to pic them up or pay for them if you use plastic to pay.
  19. Do you mean this one that is already there?
  20. I went for copper on my GS300. I like the effect as it is quite subtle.
